  1. I hadn't heard about that one. Do they have documentation that specifies what is allowed? I think that is a stupid rule. If in the heat of the moment you let a profanity slip, can you cost the team the game? And who's to say what the refs did and didn't hear? At least if a coach gets T-ed up for yelling at a ref, the ref is the one that T's him up. There just doesn't seem to be any way to regulate that the teams are treated fairly since the refs can't be everywhere at once.

  2. Well, it appears you and I agree. I took your statement to mean that Brad does not want stats posted, and since that's all you had, you did not make a comment on the scrimmage. Others were commenting that they would post nothing and the only way you can find out about the practices is if you attend. For the reasons I posted earlier, I was really hoping that wasn't the case.

SO, does anybody have a recap?

  3. Yes, I would like to hear anything about this as well. Or was it decided that even scrimmage reports are too much? I really hope that is not the case. As an out of town fan, I do not get to hear radio shows, see billiken commercials, have talks with people in the office, and more importantly every SEE the Billikens. The reports on this board are the only thing I and many other poster have to keep us up to date on the Billikens. I think some of you blew Brad's comments out of proportion. Statistics and injuries should not be posted. But he/you can't possibly believe that Bob Huggins will log in here and base his game plan on what some lawyer or a high school English teacher say about a scrimmage.

  4. Don't worry about it, man. Billiken Law is a Marquette alum who feels the need to compare everything we do to Marquette and often times, casts it in a negative light. I like the idea and hope it is successful. If I was in the Lou, I'd pick up a shirt...

  5. I could care less if all the people in the seats are "true fans". The true fans will show up for every game. Unfortunately, we don't have as many true fans as Duke, UNC, etc. We need those casual sports fans to come see the Billikens, and who knows, maybe they will become fanatics like us. More people in the seats = More money = Better facilities = Better Recruits = Better basketball program. I'm not saying 20,000 seats, but 12,000 - 15,000 is certainly not going overboard.

  6. Being in the IT industry myself, I've been wondering why SLU hasn't done this already. SLU often promotes itself as being one of the top schools in the country when it comes to being "online". It is really not that difficult a thing to do and would imagine some MIS major could put this together in a matter of weeks (if that). Unfortunately we probably won't be seeing anything like this this season even if we all complain.

Who would you recommend contacting about this? I will send an email today.

  7. “Darren has consistently been our hardest worker during the summer,†Soderberg said. “We’re excited about his focus. He’s not content with only playing in half the games like he did last year.â€

That's good to hear. Darren hasn't been talked about much this summer with Polk coming in and all. But it would be great to not see a drop off at gaurd when our starters come off the court. Plus we can keep up that fast paced game...see next quote

“With Dwayne Polk on this team, we’re not doing the job if we don’t run,†Soderberg said. “We need to devise a simple, solid plan for offensive transition. We need to run to win more.â€

Looks like those of you worried about that "slow" basketball won't have to worry much longer.

  8. I know what you mean about no news on this board...I'm actually having to do work today instead of reading about the billikens...ugh.

I think you're seven invites may be a little premature. I think that all 7 of those teams could make the tourney, but are by no means sure things. I don't feel any of those teams are in the elite class that you could count them in before the season starts (you may have a case with Cincy and Louisville). No way we get 8 teams to the tourney, but we can certainly be one of the 5-7 teams who make it. Our non-conference schedule will help our RPI a little more but we do not have anybody on it that I fear playing (like GT and Zona last year).

  9. I'm going to stay out of this soccer conversation (although I agree with much of what Rich says), but I will say that throwing around profanities on this board doesn't help your argument much. We are a pretty clever and intelligent group and the fact that you're making stupid remarks is hurting your arguement. By all means, bash him all you want, but be a little more clever...please! Dick...Billiken B!tch? My little sister could come up better comebacks.

  10. The thing about the Charter deal for me is that it seems like amateur hour. I believe one of the main reasons we took that deal was to get the games on TV so the locals can view them. Well, it seems like they are having a hard time watching the games. Then when you add on the poor picture quality and graphics, it seems like a poor man's Fox Sports. It's obviously better than nothing, but if we are moving our program in the right direction, we will definetly need to get a better TV deal.

  11. I agree...we have been winning. At least the past few years. But most of the students think winning is top 25 and a sweet 16. This is just what they have been led to believe. Honestly, most of the people I would hear these things from didn't have a clue what an RPI or an SOS was. Now, if you bring up Soccer on campus, that's a whole nother story. They got much more respect that I ever heard from basketball, that that's not even a "major" sport in the US.

  12. I can't speak for the band, but I do know I heard a lot of things of that nature when I was on campus. Granted, I've been gone for almost 2 years now (where does the time go?) but I doubt things have changed much. Every time the season would come around, I'd hype it up but get met with a lot of negative comments. Until we start winning, I don't see this changing. Having this come from the band though, is disheartening...
