  1. >I'm not wild about that idea. Who is going to rebound?

I agree. Really giving up a critical part of the game. Of course, sometimes what coaches call "guards" these days would not have been so termed a few years back. There are a lot of 6-6 small forwards called guards today.

  2. It is sad to a 52-year-old from Arkansas who grew up listening to the Cardinals on KMOX, and then became a Billikens fan purely because of listening to the games and Spoon on KMOX, and even got a little interested in Blues hockey for a while. It is like a part of my youth fading away.

  3. >I've been desperately trying to think of a handful of

    >basketball coaches who drastically changed their offensive

    >haven't been successful.

Eddie Sutton's offensive approach in years past was very deliberate, but now OSU is very uptempo. He went with the talent he had. The constant is taking good shots and defense.

By the way I love your Oscar Robertson quote.

  4. American basketball has gone through a period of time when everyone was trying to be Michael Jordan, and athleticism was the thing, not good basketball. Maybe we will swing back. We need Oscar Robertson and Bob Cousy again -or maybe just John Wooden, who hates the dunk and the 3-point shot.

  5. >I have great respect for coach Green--he is like our coach,

    >a tough man who has tough players who play hard on both

    >ends.

You said it well, and I agree entirely. USM teams play hard-nosed, old-fashioned basketball. That was one game I really wish I could have seen. My kind of basketball.!

  6. >the statement that stuck out the most from the show for me

    >though was right before a commercial break. you know how

    >frank does those bullet questions where he wants a short

    >first thing that pops in his mind type answer. he asked

    >what brad thought of bob knight. brad said, "i wouldnt want

    >my son playing for him."

Mr. Soderberg just impressed me no end by that statement! He must be a class guy.
