  1. Arkansas to the big 12? That's a very uninformed statement. Arkansas would NEVER go to the Big 12 as long as Texas is in the Big 12. Texas is why they left the old Southwest Conference in the first place. In addition, the SEC deal is way better than the Big 12. There is an article out there now proposing Missouri and Colorado to the PAC 10. Idiocy abounds just like those proposing Arkansas to the Big 12(not you Bay Area). One thing that should be noted is that these new conferences aren't likely to stop at 12 teams, more likely 16 and once the dominoes start falling, there may be a rush. There is talk of anywhere from 4 to 6 super-conferences of 16 teams structured primarily for football. The non-football schools will first have to wait and see but be prepared to move quickly. What if the Big East football schools and the ACC begin merging? Pitt and Rutgers to the Big 10(11). What next?

Arkansas left the SWC because they were in the only school in the conference not located in TX. After Arkansas left it was a TX only conference and that is one of the reasons why it failed. UT did not want to see Arkansas leave. Can't blame them, they went to a much better conference in the SEC. I agree that they would never leave the SEC for the Bic 12.

  2. I used to look forward to going down to W. Pine and catching a practice or 3 before the season, I'd see quite a few others there also. I think it does affect my enthusiasm about the coming season. We must have given out info here on bills.com that gave our competitors an unfair advantage. I remember when I said Dwayne Polk was going to be real good, another coach must have seen that and used it against us. Maybe as taunts to our players during road games. Hey Dwayne .... your fans are so stupid they thought even you were going to be good.

Don't feel bad Skip...I said that F'er from MN was going to be real good.

  3. Just curious on peoples thoughts on the NCAA football controversy. How would you rank the top 8 if you were in charge of deciding which 8 go to a playoff.

I'm a bit torn, I can see OU's and UT's argument. UT want's to say they should go because they beat OU, but if we're using that analogy then TT goes as they beat UT ... oh wait no, OU goes because they beat TT .... no wait UT goes, they beat OU.

The entire system sucks .... you have coaches voting who have alliegences to other coaches, you have writers voting with ties to schools, and various computer polls with secret formulas.

    Here would be my vote.

    1. OU .... Yes Texas beat them, but I think OU is playing the best football right now and they have the highest point differential using common oponents between UT, TT, and OU.

    2. UT ... The Big 12 is the best league and I think either UT or OU beat Fla. They also beat OU which imo is the #1 team.

    3. Fla ... The best in the next best conference.

    4. USC .... Playing good right now.

    5. Alabama ... I could have just as easily given this spot to Penn St or TT.

    6. TT ... One loss and a victory over UT

    7. Penn State ... the best of a weak Big 10

    8. Utah ... lets give the little boys a shot.

1st round pairings OU-Utah, UT-PSU, UF-TT, USC-Bama. All games to be played at current Bowl sites with all being neutral.

The argument with having the games at bowls sites is that you are asking the fan bases of all 8 teams to travel to as many as 3 different locations in a 3 week span. Believe me, I'm all for a playoff, just stating the argument that will arise with the games being played in the current bowl sites. I guess they could try to keep everyone as close to home as possible.

  4. I saw that Ken Pomeroy is not doing the RPI anymore, just his own Pomeroy ratings. That is the one that has us ranked 17. In the actual RPI, we're in the 30s.

Because kenpom has stopped computing the RPI does anyone have a sight that does?
