  1. Coach Sodaberg is rumored to be very interested in a Desmet Sophmore named Jarod Leonard. I have never seen him play and was wondering if anyone out there knows anything about him? I think that he is the son of Jesse (The Ghost)Leonard who was one of my favorite Billikens of all time.Any info on him would be appreciated. BY the way here's a trivia question. Why did they call Jesse Leonard "The Ghost"?

  2. I wholeheartedly agree, there would be nothing greater than to root for Billiken Football every Saturday.I truly think it would fill a void in many a life in the St.Louis area. But alas it is not to be, if we would have not dropped football some 50 years ago who knows what it would be like today??? I now live and die Notre Dame Football every Saturday but not to near the extent I live and die Billiken B Ball. By the way correct me on this but I believe we have winning records over both Mizzou and Notre Dame in football or else very close(we did'nt play them very much)

  3. Do you mean that perhaps Josh Kroenke is lending(giving)money to other Mizzou players? Heaven forbid that such a dasterdly deed would ever take place!!!! But seriously would that be against NCAA rules for a player to lend another player money no matter what the amount? For example if I am a college BBall player and I win 30mil in Power Ball so I decide to give my teamates 20,000 a piece to do with what they will is that a NCAA violation? I surely do'nt know the answer and maybe the NCAA does'nt.

  4. Exatamundo, correctamundo, I owe you a brewski next season----Lamont Cranston was the Shadow's true identity. But how did you cheat The Shadow was originally a radio program from back in the 40's.I guess you looked up Lamont Cranston in one of your search engines.Oh well remember "Who Knows What Evil Lurks In The Minds Of Men(or Mizzou fans)---Only The Shadow Knows.

  5. Yes Fred Sanford's son was named Lamont, yes there was a rock, blues band named lamont cranston who had a member that played a mean harmonica, but the original Lamont Cranston goes back farther than that,a lot farther,I am sure someone out there in Billiken Land knows the origin of the name, here's a hint he was a famous person's (living or dead, factual or fictional) alter ego.???

  6. Although I completely agree with the statement that Grawer was very inflexible and this was probably one of the reasons he was let go. One could make an argument that he was the best recruiter out of our last 4 coaches( although honestly it's too early to include Sodaberg) You'd have to agree that he got some of the best local talent to come to Slu during his reign.

  7. This was actually the second article in the West End Word concerning

SLU's arena. The first one was about 2 or 3 weeks ago and mainly was about the individual who bought the old Firehouse (which was a nite club for a short time) on Olive and rehabbed it into his living quarters.I do believe that that article stated that Slu could use the right of Eminent Domain if it came to that.

  8. An article in the West End Word stated that due to the exaggerated prices being requested by some property owners in the university's preferred location in Grand Center that SLU is exploring alternative arena locations on campus.

Slu would not specify the on campus options but Vince Schoemel suggested that the site the university has in mind is its baseball fields,at the northwest corner of Laclede and Compton Avenues.

(where does the baseball team play)

Schoemel went on the say that SLU needs to make a decision soon and that the University did not realize all the investment that had been made in the Grand Center Area in their original plans.Sounds like our X Mayor and Slu are not seeing eye to eye on this plan as he goes on to talk about how the money freed up by SLU not using the TIF will be used.

  9. This report was on 2,4&5 last nite and one of the stations reported that Mckinney had already met with his old high school coach Floyd Irons about the situation, if he gets involved just about anything could happen. It seems to me that there are two possibilities to this, one would be that it has been way overblown and the other is that the radio interview is just the tip of the iceberg and there may be more problems concerning Mckinney and Snider.

  10. Anyone out there in cyberspace know if the Bulls Eye board has set up a pay site I know that they had mentioned this possibility before they closed up shop on their free site.

I also read on a couple of sites, and I believe it was mentioned before on this site, that Marquette is making a strong late push for Tommie Lidell and the interest is mutual.Man I'd hate to lose this kid right out of our back yard to a conference foe.

  11. Let's hope that the "powers to be" also decide to build new apartments, condos etc. for the basketball team and possibly other athletes.Anyone ever see "Wildcat Village" at the University of Kentucky--very impressive. If this is done right what a recruiting tool it will be!!!

  12. Hate for you guys to think I don't have any thing better to do on a Saturday Nite but it was driving me nuts so I called an old Fraternity Brother in Chicago and he told me that Depaul was founded by the Vincentian Missionaries many moons ago and is still affiliated with that order of priests.

I seriously doubt if this means very much in relation to new BBall conferance affilations but at least I answered my own question and after a long week out of town I can rest easily tonite. I think I'll have a beer and dream of future Billiken victories in the new Catholic League---care to join me.
