Question:  Does Ramey's father have a job outside of basketball, or is running the AAU program his means of earning a living?

He is a high school administrator and also runs tourneys around the midwest, camps and puts on a couple big high school shootouts.

You are right we'll likely never officially "know" what happened with Team Ramey and Louisville.

But to me, the most likely scenario is that Adidas found a loop-hole in paying players and basically decided to pay the Team Ramey AAU program an inflated amount of sponsorship dollars, contingent on Courtney attending an Adidas sponsored school. How much money Team Ramey was paid above and beyond what they would have gotten from simple sponsorship is anyone's guess. This is cleaner than simply paying Brian Bowen $100k which is what they have to do when the player's dad doesn't run an AAU program. It's not quite as clean as just hiring dad to the coaching staff, but it still works as long as the FBI isn't listening in.

Once the FBI news came out and Louisville was in hot water, the Ramey's no longer had an obligation to go to an Adidas school. In reality, Adidas may even prefer Courtney not attend an Adidas school just for appearance sake.

Despite the top 10 list, including a bunch of schools that aren't really in the mix anymore, he's going to end up at Mizzou.

The sad thing is the accusations that are constantly made about this kid and his family. I am close to the family as I have stated many times before and here are the facts in the Louisville scenario: Coahc Mack reached out in hopes of recruiting Courtney Ramey apon him getting the Louisville job in which I have seen text messages indicating strong interest. Through a timeline of Courtney putting out a top 10 list because Louisville has always been a dream school and wanting to give the new staff a shot of building a relationship and a convo with Mack in which basically a take it or leave aproach was given by Mack, the family decided to not take it based on not having any relationship with Coach Mack and his staff. Courtney father figures Louisville and Mack needs guards badley and rather have older guards in the form of grad transfers which Coach Mack has since stated.

There has been no evidence of any recruiting violations etc from this family and their AAU program which featured 2 top 100 players and who earned its Adidas Gautnlet spot last year by winning the Silver division the previous year before. The more ironic news is they walked away from Adidas this year based off all the changes and on goings with the program. Adidas also cut another local program Gateway basketball from the top status and made them a pay to play program on the Silver. Courtney is a great kid and works his butt off on and off the court. Every kid and coach Blossom says he doesnt hangout with the crowd and has never been in any associated drama or trouble. THe dad has run a program for over 20 years that has helped a lot of kids and we are formulating an opinion about him because they didnt want to come to SLU. If he had chose SLU we would be singing both their glory. The kid had his dream school snatched and is taking his time to make sure his next choice is the right choice and i commend him and his family for that. So we need to stop this crazy accusations of them being bad people or in some scam. That family is far from in the need of money and every coach that has and is recruiting him always says the same thing of how stand up and straight forward they are.

So a PG with a .31 shooting percentage for 3's and and a .54 fg percentage is higher rated than someone with a .68 fg percentage? Learn something new I guess. While there are other factors I don't think someone with that low of a 3pt% is ranked top 20.

Goodwin shot 27%  from three this year.

I wonder if Ramey was coming to SLU what would be said about him on here. Hmmmmm

How some websites have Ramey rated over Gordon is beyond me.

    # Name GP Pts Avg FG FG% 2FG 2F% 3FG 3F% FT FT%

    0 Carte'Are Gordon 13 240 18.5 104-153 68.0 104-153 68.0 0-0 .0 32-50 64.0

    13 Courtney Ramey 27 537 19.9 173-317 54.6 150-243 61.7 23-74 31.1 168-217 77.4

Don't think it matters because We have Gordan and Ramey is going somewhere else.

Ramey stats are pretty impressive for a pg to average 9 rebounds and also 7 assists per game to go along with the 20 points per game. In the bigger games they have played together he has outscored Gordon. Versus Morgan Park, Iowa City, and Vashon. I think they play amazing great together in my opinion and it would have great if we could have got Ramey but that the past.

-I hadn't seen/heard that the school was involved, if the kid heard from the janitor or anyone at school we're having Ramey's college announcement, by all means Twitter away

I agree with that hsmith19 but if it was false and not true or not going to happen that could have an affect on recruiting or how coaches take things. It brings a lot of unwarranted attention to an already intense recruiting battle. So maybe that's why he was asked to take it down and let it die until appropriate time. Which didn't happen and the kid kept tweeting about it even the next day. I do agree that as adults we have to pick how to comeback wisely and not getting into a debate or whatever them 2 were in, is not the right way.

I don't see why this has become such a huge deal myself.

Please stop with the Watson is better than Ramey. Ramey is the best point guard to come out of St Louis since, I can't remember. As Blossom has said, he's the best assist and rebounding point guard he's ever seen and that doesn't include the fact that as a junior he averages almost 20 points a game

I will come to the defense to Mr. Ramey a lil bit who i again call a friend. I was at the Webster game last night and talked with him about the supposedly commitment. His problem was the Durando kid who writes for the school newspaper tweeted that a commitment was coming Monday and Mr. Ramey asked the kid to delete it because it was false info and the kid said No i have reliable sources that it is true. Ramey told him there are no more reliable sources than himself concerning his kid and that his kid didn't tell him this info to. Kid refused and said he was right. My advice to Mr. Ramey was to just ignore it.

Mr. Ramey showed me the messages and told me that it causes a major commotion.

So i ask myself why didn't noone else including mr. Ramey say anything on social media bout a commitment. Only Stu kid said this info which seem strange, not sure if he got it from a kid at school or wherever. I don't think there was any vindication behind any of this, just someone standing on what they heard and Mr. Ramey trying to clear the air. The kid continued to tweet on this matterer even after talking to Mr. Ramey

Lastly you stated the kid doesn't want to be a Billiken because he wants to get away from dads control. So if dad is so controlling of kid how his he allowing him to do what he wants to do and go away. Wouldn't he keep him here or do what he wants. I would say Mr. Ramey is protective over his kid

Anybody seen Zion Williamson's highlight real this season?  I asked that because Gordon is probably the most similar player to him.

Love me some Gordon but I daon't agree with this one. WIlliamson is a freak athlete. I mean freak athlete.

Webster has a guard who will be a 3* if not higher in a year.  averaged 30+ per last year at Affton, but I bet Ford went for Ramey.

Id have to think as long as a uncommitted 4* in your backyard is playing, you have to show up regardless of your chances to land him.

Interesting note, and I dont think it will effect Ramey in the long run, Ramey had his worst game when Pitino was in the house.

Isiah Ford is no 3 star recruit. No way. He averaged 24 points a game last year for Affton. He is not even a D1 kid in anyones eyes. Where did you get that crazy info.

I do agree about Potts being D2/D3 level and he is better than Ford.

Mario Mckinney also played right after the WG game so im sure they were there also to watch him.

Ramey played out of his mind in the game saturday and has been great all year thus far. Wish we could have gotten him but everyone has him locked for Louisville.

  9. From what i have heard their have been a lot of schools not on Gordon like one would have thought becuase of his demeanor. Not many schools came through WG this fall for Gordon and KU was one of them. I am hearing that KU  wasn't that high on him, which is crazy but benefits SLU greatly. Mizzou and SLU where there a lot to see Gordon. So get ready for some very good news and I am wishing the kid nothing but the best.

  10. Where is everyone gettting all this info from about Ramey. I know the dad really well and recently talked to him at his league. He had no ill will towards SLU after I asked him about where did our Billikens stand. He told me exactly from his mouth that the new coaches hadn't reached out to him or his son and Watson for the matter all summer long and after there hire. He mentioned that the 1st contact to him and Watson was by Cory Tate a week after he was hired and he told Tate that he was surprised that Ford wouldn't have reached out by now and that no SLU coaches attended any summer games and for that matter they were behind other schools who have done a better job of building a relationship with him and his son which is vital to him. This is from the horses mouth. Not sure what he has to gain by lying.

Also since I have been around the Dad even before Courtney was born, he has never talked about the kid and NBA and plus you never see the kid on social media or anywhere talking or acting like he is a superstar. So I was just curious of to where you all are getting this notion that he never liked SLU and being programmed to be a 1 and done. Back to Watson, he had a very strong relationship with the previous staff especially coach Brown and has always liked SLU. Not being a detective but since I am talking bull&&&& why did it take till August 2016 for the staff to re offer the Watson family as stated by the tweet from his HS coach.

I am big on kids staying home and wish we could land all 3 but the question was raised why have we fallen of Ramey so quick and since I am close to the family, I thought I would bring some clarity to the situation from what the Dad has told me. I have nothing to gain and I am not saying anyone is at fault, I am sure Coach Ford knows what exactly he is doing and wants. Maybe Ramey isn't high on his list and doesn't like his playing style. He has that right, just wanted to tell you what was said to me by the family.

How did we get so behind on Ramey? I feel like he's been a no brainer recruit since he's been in high school.

I have heard that Ford & staff really botched this up. They never contacted him or Watson until late August. Also didn't go see one game of their aau team all summer, while every other coach in the country seemed to based on articles and offers they have. How can you not contact 2 kids that have offers from previous staff already that are local and having stellar summers and are nationally ranked. DIdn't get this one. They have seemed to mend the fence with Watson to an extent and I think they tried with Ramey but the interest wasn't as strong.  I am not positive in this matter just what I have heard and it seems to be true.

Seems like they both would have been major local priorities. The previous staff had both kids on campus and had them at several games.

Franklin Agunanne is from Dallas. He plays AAU ball for Team Texas. He has an offer from SMU and interest from Kansas, Iowa State, Texas, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, TCU, Oklahoma, and Lehigh.

SLU has yet to establish any pipeline or noticeable relationship with St. Louis Christian Academy.

Franklin went to St. Louis Christian as a freshman and has since moved to Texas and attending St. Anthony prep school in Texas now.
