I'd love to watch you guys pummel the dregs of your conference. Do you have a link?
i've got em on my DVR...but unless you feel like coming to Memphis for a beer and some hoops, i don't know what to tell you.
-
What your history with the Billikens? You should have joined the A-10, because after UL and Cincy leave for the Big 12, the non hoops schools will start a new conference, and you're gonna be playing in a conference that's weaker than CUSA in hoops.
with the B12's looming TV deal it looks like they won't be expanding...why split 2.5 billion 2 more ways?

"...the new media revenue could effectively end any discussion of the Big 12 expanding back to 12 teams, not news that Louisville wanted to hear."
Memphis plays football, so for Memphis, a basketball first conference with BCS money is VERY appealing.

After watching the video of the second half Xavier Memphis game that someone posted I've come to the conclusion that how this game is officiated is going to make a huge difference in the outcome. Admittedly it was a limited sample but seems like Memphis' ball pressure defense involves several potential fouls per posession. Again it could be that they were trying to force the issue due to being behind.
If this game is called close, like our games in Anaheim were we'll do a heck of a lot bertter than if anything goes........
Memphis has been playing inspired basketball since the UTEP loss at home...if you want to see how Memphis will play you...watch one of the last 7.

Can you tell we don't like the Big East?
considering all the history we have with Louisville, Cincy, Marquette and even Houston...the Big East is a natural fit for the Tigers.
-
are you disagreeing with Isaac Asimov?
-
I literally don't care enough to go back and find it. Someone mentioned they thought it would be a blow out.
you guys have really got to try and keep up...
-
1. You are overlooking us by deeming it a blowout. 2. It's SLU, not STL. Ok? thanks.
and where, exactly, did i do that?
-
That's fine, be a fan. I'm not too sure many people here really care about your outlook. I think was saying he hopes Memphis is as ignorant as you are, and overlooks us in the same manner. #snicker
if i was overlooking STL would i be on your message board?
-
We're not underseeded, based on our resume. Memphis should be a 5 or 6 seed though.
i think it's because CUSA does NOT have a good perception in hoops....that's why we're leaving for the Big East.
-
My point remains the same. I hope your team is overlooking us the same way you are.
how is my correcting you, looking ahead?
and BTW...i'm a fan...we can look ahead if we like...we don't lace em up and play ball.
-
I kept up. I just was trying to phrase it in a way that would not confuse you.
perhaps you should try being exact with you wording in the future...Xavier is our best OOC win...Louisville, Georgetown, or Michigan would be our best OOC opponents.
-
I really don't think you all understand what you are up against in this one. This is not some Maac team that made a conference tournament run. We are better than Xavier making us your toughest OOC opponent yet.
i said best OOC win...you gotta keep up.
our best OOC opponent was either Louisville, Georgetown, or Michigan.
-
I was there, too. Xavier pissed it away.
it's their job to beat us...they didn't
-
You are the one naming xavier as one of your benchmark wins.
they are...top 50 RPI...NCAA team.
Miami and beating Tennessee twice we're nice and all...but Xavier was our best OOC win.
-
Yeah? I remember a team named SLU beating a team named Xavier TWICE this season.
yay? i'm just glad we're leaving for the Big East...no more having to schedule OOC during CUSA play just to keep the RPI up.
-
then you have a poor memory and/or were sufficiently hammered.
i would say the latter...but beers at FedExForum are 7.50...f that
-
Ha...right...
Someone posted the last 7 minutes on this board, you should watch it again.
don't need to...i was there...along with 17,100 friends.
-
two girls one cup?
-
If I remember correctly, Xavier had that game locked up and then pissed it away. Memphis didn't win that game. X lost it.
you do not remember correctly...Memphis simply OWNED the last 6 minutes...
-
Oh God, and now we have a superiority complex. You expect to make the NCAA's but you're surprised when someone actually graduates!!!
i said proud...not surprised...do you need a dictionary to tell the difference?
-
I'm just waiting for some moron to post that we have a better pep band. Not sure anyone has noticed but D1 basketball has nothing to do with academics, education or anything of the sort. Who friggin cares if players graduate. I think we have to realize that most kids that play D1 ball and graduate would have attended college anyway. And for the kids that do attend and don't graduate? They never would have attended college if not for their basketball skills. I applaud the kids that get the opportunity and take full advantage. But I don't fault the schools for choosing athletes that never make the commitment to their education. Football and basketball pay for all the other college sports programs so the real student athletes can get the true student athlete experience. And how are most D1 schools going to meet TItle IX if they don't have cash cows in men's basketball and football. D1 basketball is big business. If you relish days gone by start following the local high school team Or feel free to tune in to ESPN to catch the nation's top HS teams...........only a matter of time before you'll be filling out your HS bracket.
the NCAA...

I assume that when Backhand talks about 'crackin open some cold ones', he's talking about Smirnoff Ices.
thought it would be Zima's

Obama picked Memphis to beat SLU. I feel pretty good about our chances now.
Presidents a smart man...
-
I remember when a team named Xavier felt 'disrespected' .... well the rest of their season didn't go so well.
we're not "a team named Xavier"...in fact, i remember Memphis beating "a team named Xavier"
