  1. How many years ago was it that the student section consisted of 7 people sitting in a half empty Savvis? The team is playing well, so we need something to complain about? I know the point of message boards is to ***** and moan, but let's stay grounded in reality at least a little bit. We completely filled the student section Wednesday against a team with absolutely no draw to the casual fan. Plenty of those people probably don't even know that Bona is in New York, but they still came. That shows a dramatic shift in the attitude of the students towards this team. People are coming. That's step one. The rest will follow. Don't forget that the students only make up 10% of the building. The rest of the building needs to get their hands out from under their butts as well.

    Winning solves all.

+1 Though I think the energy should start primarily with the student section

  2. Happy the Bills got over the Rhody hump! Can't wait to see how good this team is if they ever start getting shots to fall (hope it happens at some point). This game almost got me banished to the basement by the wife. She hates when I yell at the tv. She did pour me a victory scotch to calm me down though.

  3. Disappointing loss because we had chances Wisconsin was able to take our guys out of there game. Seems like the entire game the guards were driving the game and getting shots blocked. I am concerned that this offense doesn't seem to be able to work the ball quickly to find someone for the open shot. Still early, but a lot of work to do of we want a shot on Sunday.

  4. Just got back from the game. Glad we woke up in the 2nd half and got the win. It's hard to tell what to take away from these early games. We don't look as crisp on offense, but the d kept us in the game in the first half by creating turnovers. I think we'll learn a lot about this team when we play Wisconsin next week.

  5. Not trying to change the topic but I think this is info that should come here. There is a wealth of information on African basketball players currently graduating from HS / prep school in the US and seeking placement at college teams, particularly high level teams. The Team Nigeria site lists about two dozen of these, all members of Nigeria's national teams (inter African play and well as internally in Nigeria), Randy Onwuassur is one of these. Reggie Agbeko is from Ghana, again featured in Team Ghana or Ghana basketball, cannot recall which. These are really high quality players with LOTS more experience than HS school play may suggest to any of us. The Nigerians are being snatched by places like Duke and Syracuse. I think we really have to consider these candidates as better qualified than the normal HS graduate level would suggest, probably also older and more mature in experience. Please feel free to check the net, it is interesting.

I just posted this in the recruits thread and then thought it fit here as well. It is possible that Reggie Agbeko may be capable of professional level play from early on. Let us also hope that Randy Onwassur decides in favor of SLU.

I think we can all thank Kevin Bacon for starting this trend when he went to recruit over there back in 1994.
