  1. This seems like a topic that was started just to rile people up on the message board. Earl's blog, while sometimes showing spelling errors and grammatical mistakes, is an excellent read for anyone interested in local basketball. Like others have said, it is a blog and should not be held up to normal journalistic standards.

...then why would we link it to the board? It shouldn't be held up to normal journalistic standards because it is not journalism. It is just someone rambling.

  2. So do we link to his blog because of who he is? No offense, but from a grammatical standpoint, his blog is gibberish. I understand a blog is informal writing at its best, but his stories are anything but parallel and he can't make a complete thought. And yes, I would tell him this to his face.

  3. It's sounding like Mizzou is a possible candidate to join the Big Ten as well.

Mizzou wouldn't leave the Big XII because of their rivalry with Kansas. It wouldn't really mean much if they played each other with nothing but "bragging rights" on the line. 10 out of 10 MU alums will tell you they hate Kansas and really don't care for Illinois, but if their sister married a UI alum, they'd probably show up at the wedding, but if their sister married a KU alum, ###### would hit the proverbial fan.

  4. I am sick of hearing "...this close to Christmas, 22 degree weather..." excuses. Excuses. Excuses. Grow a pair. All of you.

We have an alumni base living in the city of St. Louis that could fill that arena without the eight members of the Blue Crew that show up for the Kennesaw State School for the Blind and Deaf game. I'm tired of hearing "it's cold." "Parking is awful." Deal with it. We are SPOILED ROTTEN to have the Chaifetz Arena on our campus. For a program mired in Cincinnati Bengal-esque mediocrity, we are spoiled to have the facilities we have. We haven't won anything or achieved anything to earn what we have.

Every time I come on this message board, it's more excuses. Shut up, go to the games, root on our Billikens, go home and live your life without complaining. Be thankful for what we have at SLU. If you keep bitching about little things like "parking" (waaah) and "the weather" (waaah), no one will go to the games and our program will suffer because of fans like you.

Your problems are seen as "factors" to why you think people do not come to SLU games. On the contrary, they are excuses. And just like a**holes, everybody's got one. I am sick and tired of your excuses.

We are an exciting team. We have created the foundation of a new culture of winning at SLU. It seems the pieces of the puzzle are now falling into place in terms of coaches, budgets, recruiting, facilities; now it is your turn. Fill the seats, be rowdy, God forbid drink a few brews and spout off at an official! HAVE FUN! Jesus, it isn't a chore to go to a SLU basketball game! You should be counting the days down until the next tip-off!

I am relocating to Dallas for a job back with Fleishman-Hillard and the one thing I'm going to miss about St. Louis is getting fired up about the direction of our program. We FINALLY have a coaching staff in place that can recruit, recruit, recruit and we will be at the top of the conference within two years. But we need to fill the damn arena for every game. We're sending a big "F-U" to Fr. Biondi with each empty seat. Biondi doesn't want to hear your excuses, and neither do I.

I'm going to miss hanging out at the Annex with Rican and BackHandtheRican and guys like Joe Da Vola, who is a Golden God, by the way. I am especially pissed I won't be in town for the Xavier game to cut down the nets like Digger Phelps when ND beat the Wizards of Westwood, ending their run at 88.

Get to the games, Bills. Our team feeds off your energy. Feed the Bills.

    One love,

  5. This is true. I read an article a few weeks ago about how the biggest myth in college basketball is that Cal produces NBA point guards. Those kids would be drafted lottery regardless, he just gets to 'showcase' them (that's what he tells them) in the dribble drive motion offense, which is essentially glorified street ball.

That was an article published during the height of the Todd Bozeman era, I'm sure.

  6. No doubt UK has talent. But they have youth too. Just like our team there will be games where they look like freshmen. I just have a nagging feeling that down the line UK (aka NCAA tourney) will play an experienced team that plays solid defense and they won't be able to pull it out.

Take a look at UNC, my friend. Their youth handled a very experienced Michigan State squad with returning Big Ten POY Kalin Lucas. UNC and UK are the two most athletic teams in the country, with Kansas and probably Texas rounding out the top 4. Didn't see much from Nova against the Fighting Martelli's to put them in that same group of athletes, but put Nova and Duke on the same floor and you'll probably get a game in the 90s. Both teams can shoot the lights out. Regardless of youth, UK and UNC will advance to the Final Four in 2010.

  7. Not really a tournament. It's just an annual game in Kansas City. Used to be at Kemper but now it's at the Sprint Center.

I was hoping that LaSalle would challenge Kansas a bit more. Kansas this year has only had a couple game under 30 point margin. Couldn't see LaSalle winning this one, but then again I didn't think UMass would pull off the upset last year either. Most teams will struggle with KU's depth this year. I don't think has LaSalle has anything to hang their heads about.

look at this trivia expert over here!

  8. This season it appears that security during time outs has heightened. For awhile guards would stand at the baseline during time outs. Tonight 3-4 persons, including a policewoman in uniform, would stand behind the Billiken bench. Is there any particular reason for this increased security?

Some KC thuggery afoot. They probably wanted Willie.

It's the Tech-9 / Nelly battle on the hardwood.

  9. That was the WORST game of Cassity's college career.

Also, what the hell has happened to our guards? They have all been terrible recently.

the worst game of Cassity's career (so far) was the UGA game in Athens. For some reason I DVR'd the game and kept going back and watching how timid he is when he has the ball during road games.

  10. Read his early entries in the SLU-GA game thread and a few others and the How to Beat The Billikens Version 1.0 thread he started and he was ripping the kids, brutal with freshman, you will agree he is out of line. He should go somewhere else.

Awwww it's called being a critic. There are plenty of us on here, problem is you can't find them all.
