  1. Another thing about SLU vollyeball. This weekend the are in Hawaii taking on #4 Hawaii #10 Cal and #2 Texas. So in succession they are playing the #1-#4-#10-#2 who does that? I'll tell you who, SLU and Anne Kordes!
  2. Hello Billiken Nation: I would like to intoduce myself. I'm Chris Brose and the PA guy for SLU volleyball the last 12 seasons. I want to thank everyone for their kind words for my performance Saturday night. SLU volleyball games are easily the best known secret in STL sports, it is really EXCITING and we have GREAT PLAYERS @ SLU. It's been AWESOME watching a team develope into a nationally ranked program. Anne Kordes has done a remarkable job @ SLU and she has the momentum going full steam ahead, her 2010 recruiting class is being regarded as one of the best in the nation. Meanwhile, her current team is made of some of the best local talent as well as some of the best regional talent around. Her five seniors: Behrens, Roth, McCloud, Warning and Fonke only have 12 home games left in their careers, so BILLIKEN NATION don't miss it!! Saturday night on August 29, 2009 SLU volleyball made history. 6106 fans of BILLIKEN NATION showed up (3rd largest crowd for a college volleyball game this season) to see YOUR BILLIKENS take on two-time defending National Champ Penn State Nittany Lions at Chaifetz Arena. I've read that some BILLIKEN NATION members feel this was the most exciting SLU sporting so far in the short history of the Chaifetz Arena. I couldn't agree more. The place was electric and BILLIKEN NATION was very vocal and some have FINALLY experience a Volleyball game at SLU. Pretty AWESOME wasn't it? Please start showing up, these kids deserve it! I would like to see them grow out of the pavillion and have the arena has their new home court. SLU should average 5000 a game. They haven't lost a conference match in over 2 years!! Back to the Penn State game. When Penn State came out of the tunnel to start the game BILLIKEN NATION greeted the Nittany Lions with the LOUDEST BOO'S I've ever heard at SLU. Guess what? The Penn State players loved it. They RARELY play in this type of environment especially against an A10 team in front of 6100+. The first set was critical for SLU. Down by 4-5 points SLU tied the match 22-22. Not many teams get to this territory against the GIANTS of college volleyball. So the first set was for the taking. Instead, SLU fought off 4 Penn State set points to succumb 29-27. WOW!!! Set two was the beginning of the Penn State wear down. The Nittany Lions won 25-18 again impressive score agianst the two-time defending Champs, then in the final set losing 25-14 typical Penn State score. This is why the BILLIKENS were the only team in the nation to move up in the polls after a loss. That's how IMPESSIVE the first set was. So come on out and SUPPORT SLU volleyball! POINT SLU!!!!
