  1. They are getting beat by 16 at half against New Mexico right now and look like a totally different team than the one who beat SDSU. That's the difference when ONE of their better players can't play. We lost our two best, kinda helps put it in perspective.

  2. Here goes, listen up.

    1. Triangle is shocked that nobody (apologies if Too missed it) picked up on the quote from Cody Ellis. "We basically gave up in the second half". Don't remember any athlete in any sport leveling this criticism on himself, his teamates and coaching staff. "Everything we did in the first half, we did the exact opposite in the second-". Why -"THE EXACT OPPOSITE IN THE SECOND" ???????? Answer - it is coaching people.

    2. Assistant coaches - what are they there for? Is there not one assistant coach than can work on free throws - is it just a lost cause? What input do they have during a game, they seem too be Coach Majerus and Coach Moser clones - don't rock the boat. Didn't they hear that unemployment benefits have been extended for 13 months.

    3. Coach Majerus's future. Let's all face it, he is not very healthy and getting up there in years and he really needs too make his health his very first priority. Triangle remembers back at Too's University of Arizona and how recruiters used Lute Olson's age and health conditions against commiting. Thankfully Coach Olson's family stepped in and said enough is enough. Father time and as the number of pill bottles mount up in the medicine cabinet - well. When it is time - our associate head coach should not be promoted.

    4. Fan dissatisfaction - The truth is - we can do nothing. With some promise for next year, season tickets will be about the same. The big hit this year has been in virtually NO walk-up gate and will continue for the rest of the year, have you noticed that scalpers are suffering from extreme weight loss. Booing college players and coaches, wearing brown paper bags, wearing brown paper bags with no holes cut intoo them so we don't have too watch, even at home? Any communications with athletic administration is met with "well, we lost our 2 best players." What about the improvement in the players we have - none.

    5. Bernie interview - A friend called and clued Triangle in on an interview on 101.1 on Thursday with Coach Majerus (evidently he does this every Thursday). From what Too was told admittedly second hand, Coach Majerus went through a list of St. Louis players that he couldn't land because they went too bigger conferences (BCS) and that the Atlantic 10 was a problem in recruiting. WHAT! Did he think that Saint Louis University was going too join a BCS conference? Did he think that joining the MVC would have helped in recruiting these players? If you can add too this interview please do. Triangle is starting too wonder why Coach Majerus accepted this job in the first place.

    6. BEAT St. Joseph. We have too - We must - Make Noise! See everyone courtside at the game!

    so it goes.

    Typical stoopid post
  3. Did this guy actually watch the same game and report on the same game that Triangle listened too? Listening too the pre-game show, Too learned that the Owls second leading scorer, Juan Fernandez would not play. Excellent Triangle thought, a big plus. Fernandez has had some tough times, but in the last 2 games he scored 20 against Villanova and 15 against Fordham. Timmermann made no mention of the missing Fernandez in tooday's article, why?. His whole article was based on Temple's .306 shooting percentage and attributed this too the Billiken's defense. Well, Temple was able too take 62 freaking shots! Team defensive stats are totally misleading, a player misses a wide open shot (even a dunk) and the defensive team gets a stop. This guy is really lazy - not even a mention of the following BESIDES the Fernandez injury:

    1. Starting both Loe and Conklin and then Loe getting only 15 minutes and Remekun getting 23.

    2. Cassity playing 34 minutes and getting only 4 shots (0-4).

    3. Salecich playing 17 minutes (0-0, good but not for 17 minutes of playing time)

    4. Ellis only getting 7 minutes of playing time without a shot - no explanation.

    5. Billikens getting too the free throw line only 10 times and shooting a bismal 50%.

    6. Billikens being 0-7 from 3pt. (He mentioned Temple's Moore being 4-17 from the field??)

These are all legitimate questions that a reporter must realize that impacted this game but none of these were addressed in his newspaper article about the game. Triangle realizes that column inches are limited - but he is a reporter of facts. Triangle also realizes that no columnist in the Post is going too touch our Billikens this year (unless there is some super dramatic turnaround of fortunes) so we are left with a game reporter. So what are we left with, Tom Timmermann, Mr. spin, Mr. let's not asked any tough questions in the locker room, Mr. let's not upset anyone. Reporting is reporting, the facts are the facts, we are not getting them from Timmermann and we certainly won't get them from 101.1. Where is Stu?

    so it goes.

He answers most of your complaints in his game review at stltoday. I find these are usually pretty in depth, and I really don't think TT is lazy as you suggest. I'm pretty sure he has to give a broad summary of the games to the casual fan for the Post, and they just don't give him the time or space to go into details.
  4. I believe that the officiating process is inherently biased. It is most obvious in non-con play as the home team generally hires the refs. Most refs know that if they protect the home team on a few calls they'll get invited back which is money in their pockets. The same applies for conference games as officials know who the league would prefer to win. They aren't oblivious to standings at all. Since the conference signs their paychecks they have an inherent reason to support the Temples of the world in games like this.

Of course, they'd never admit it and they may not even realize they are actively doing it, but its only human nature to take actions that will improve their job status and financial standing...

I think they just flat out suck
  5. Overall Majerus is a pig.

He is so much more of a show than anything the past 10 years of his life.

He hasn't done ###### in a decade ... what? One NCAA win?

I love Slu ... but hiring him went against our values and it shows with his recruits. Since Sodeberg left Majerus hasn't even led us to an NIT. He has been a 5 million dollar bust so far.

This man should not get a pass because of his previous success.

I understand a couple years of rebuilding ... but three or four with not even an NIT, for a million dollars? Give me a break.

I think the "values" you're talking about are the same ones used by the student court. If they wouldn't have gotten involved none of this panic discussion or Majerus bashing would even be taking place.
  6. Ugh....while it is pretty tough being a Bills fan it is sometimes tougher coming to this board, especially after a loss. Always a bunch of Chicken Littles running around yelling 'The sky is falling! The sky is falling!' To add to that, then you get the regular posters who use this to once again unleash their venom towards Majerus. More, you also get the trollers who show up to instigate and agitate.

But, seriously, are we already dismissing JJ, MM, RL and DE as a whole because they aren't coming in and winning basketball games for us right now? Are we already saying they are overrated and busts because we are 5-9? They are freshmen who have been pressed into way more action, with more pressure on them, than they ever could have expected coming in. They have all shown signs of brilliance this season, with each of them having double-digit scoring games at some point. It is patently unfair to rip them for not being able to lead this team to more victories this season. Next season and the following, yes, it is fair game. But this season, I think we know it is not.

To make a somewhat crazy comparison, in 2002-03, North Carolina finished 6-10 in the ACC and 17-15 in the regular season relying heavily on 4 freshmen. The freshmen were Sean May, Rashard McCants, Raymond Felton and David Noel. I am sure the UNC fans were really ticked that they missed the tourney, and Matt Doherty lost his job. However, those freshmen that he recruited ended up winning a national title 2 years later, with 3 of them becoming All-Americans. Now, I am not saying that our freshmen our of that quality. However, I think if 3 future All-Americans that would win a national title together as juniors had a losing conference record as freshmen, perhaps we can cut our freshmen some slack, at least for this season. They are a talented bunch and I think we will see good things from them in the coming seasons.

Very well said...first paragraph couldn't be more true
