  1. SLU leads the all-time series 25-24.

SLU last won in Carbondale in 1997, when Larry Hughes took over the game at crunch time.

The most dispositive factor in this series has been the venue.

Two of my most memorable in person Billiken games were against the Salukis:

    1. In my freshman year in 1978, SLU beat SIU 74-71 at the old Arena, as freshman Willie Horne hit the big shot.

    2. I was there in 1993 at the Arena, with over 17,000 fans in attendance, the first big crowd of the Spoonball Days, when they removed the gold drape-like covers from the seats in the rafters at the end to accomodate the crowd. That SLU team was on fire and SIU had no chance- SLU won 100-85.

Let's just hope the history of this series repeats itself on Saturday night- with the home team winning.

Thank you for answering the second part of my question. Who wants to take a stab at the first part, i.e. notable accomplishments?

  2. I know he has said this, but I wouldn't count on this. While he always had efficient offenses at Utah his teams were not really up tempo. He only had three teams that averaged more than 75 ppg in 15 years. I would actually become a little concerned if he tossed out the style and beliefs that have made him successful.

Is Majerus calling somewhat fat and slow not not unlike Nancy Pelosi calling someone stupid and liberal?

    PS- we told you so!

  3. uh, if you are going to try a dumb bait...at least be smart enough to get it right.

    Emory, not FedEx.

    mm

Details, details....so is UK using FedEx now? You know, when it absolutely, positively has to be there... ;)

  4. Better news for SLU fans is that Kent State is not coming to town.

Is the SLU Brain Trust starting to see why 47 Utah players left the program under the reign of your illustrious coach?

BTW, I watched the Thompson brat (he is REALLY soft) get schooled by a 6-7 player from Mounds Meridian the other night, it won't take long for him to get run out of town by Mr. Personality.

Sorry you can't recruit St. louis.

  5. I do remember him coming on our site to rub in the Roundtree decommitment. I'm looking forward to SIU-SLU this year. I believe this series has been pretty even over the years, but I think the Dawgs will pull out a win. I also don't think either team will win by double digits.

Let's see if he shows up now that Roundtree has recommitted.

  6. I guess you missed this part of the first post in the thread:

"Groups have to be 20 or more and lower level seats are $12, upper $6. It was just a thought, I dont know how many would want to do this or not. It would give a chance to reserve seats in advance of regular ticket sales and $12 for a lower bowl seat seemed pretty reasonable."

Maybe I was giving them to much credit to realize they would save a few bucks by buying group tickets. I just took the above to mean this guy figured it out.

to-used as a function word to indicate direction toward

    too- also, besides

You may want to consider just using the numeral 2, generically, if you are not smart enough to sort out the above. An example would be: Them Carbondale hicks have 2 much confidence in their team, we are gonna show 'em when they come 2 the big city!

    Might simplify your life.
