We scored off an inbounds play!!!!!!!!11111

-it wouldn't surprise me if at this point less than 10 in the world know, Crews, his wife, his agent, his agent's assistant, May, FrB, DrP, SLU's employment attorney, their assistant and may be the head of the Trustees
-the biggest expansion of the list I would think would be the entirety of the Trustees
I agree, and I highly doubt that Dwayne's World on the Billikens.com message board has access to this information.
Crews is getting paid 800k. He's one of the top paid coaches in the A10 and makes more than Archie Miller. We can get some good young coaches from smaller schools to come here for that salary. So they would only really need to pay the buyout. It would hardly be a Soderberg to Majerus transaition where the school had to buy out Soderberg, may Majerus double what Soderberg got, pay for charter flights, etc.
-
About how much is Crews's buyout?

Would pulling Gillmann's scholarship really be the best idea after all the hand-wringing over the program's relationship with local coaches?
I have no idea what local coaches think of the program. Gillmann isn't an A10 talent. Hines is local too, should he stay on scholly? If the new coach tried to force out Zeke Moore before next season then that would be pretty bad for local recruiting.
-
Jolly, Gillmann, and Hines should have their schollies pulled so that's 3 spring schollies for the new coach. Maybe Yarbrough and Agbeko too. I'd like to see all the rest of the players back though.
-
My understanding is that he believes athletics is an integral part of the student experience. If we pony up for a coach then it won't be his money anyway.
-
Obi Ikeakor and Horace Dixon qualified but didn't they both flunk out during the 06 fall semester? SLU has taken on plenty of guys with extremely questionable academics.

Earned his bachelor's in 3 years and will have 2 years to earn his master's.

99% of this board was drunk off koolaid 2 or 3 years ago. Recruiting is great, we're definitely going to be in the BE, we're definitely going to win 20+ games every year, etc. No one in 2013 could have predicted that it would be such a disaster now. I definitely would have given the job to Crews, given what we knew then.

You won't be saying this after Bishop leads us to the dance this year!

The former associate head coach is Tim Fuller.
So the worst of it is that a major donor held an "internship program" where he gave a few hundred in cash, meals, electronics, and use of a gym to 3 players and 1 recruit. Doesn't seem that bad and I would guess this goes on at a lot of places. Pretty dumb by Mizzou to get caught.

Mizzou announces details of NCAA review, vacates all wins from 2013-14 season, imposes postseason ban & more: http://vbs.cm/V0SrDa
Well done posting this in the professional sports thread.
What a hero.

Rams to Inglewood alone is off the ballot but it got 21 out of 24 required votes, according to Kilcoyne.
-
All I'm seeing is the ballot is Rams-Chargers in Inglewood or Chargers-Raiders in Carson. If neither get 24 votes then neither will happen.
-
I frankly don't really care all that much who the interim would be for a month, just more interested in having JC gone by the end of January if we only win one of our next six. Regarding Waldo, CC has already been considered for a head coaching job... he was one of two finalists at IUPUI two years ago.
A lot has changed in the past couple years so he can likely kiss those chances at better jobs goodbye.
I agree with you that SLU's job should be attractive to low major head coaches. A big increase in pay, recent success in the NCAAs, a beautiful arena in a major city, a multi bid conference, a lot of games on TV, not having to travel everywhere as a buy team anymore.
-
Why should Calvert get a head coaching job or major assistant job anywhere? What has he done to deserve a promotion like this? I have no idea why some think Calvert is some young hotshot rising star coach.
-
Need to see if this was a fluke
Crews will not lead us back to a top 25 team regardless if we win a couple games we shouldn't.
Just wanted to state the obvious for all the people who seem to be willing to give crews another shot because we got one by GW. No matter how well we do this year, I hope Crews decides to retire after this season.
This.
It's good to see JC go out on a win before his retirement announcement tomorrow.
Happy for the team, but JC is not the long term answer.

I remember Cuonzo Martin's name appearing a lot during the last coaching search. He went to Missouri State, then to Tennessee, now at Cal.
Skinner is 63, Greenberg is 59, Dambrot is 57. Do we really want another old guy who is close to retirement?
-
What happens if Crews doesn't get fired/retire after the season?
Then MB73 will be the only one watching the games next season.
-
I wonder how much longer this train wreck will go on.
Until March or so.
-
Didn't watch. No ragrets.

Like I said in a previous thread, not a single coach on this staff is fit to be a high major D1 assistant or head coach.
+100000000. The assistants are responsible for this disaster too. I'll assume that post about Cheaney is a troll post.
-
I know nothing about him, but the NJIT coach suggestion is interesting. Didn't they go from a provisional D-1 school, to worst D-1 school, to not a terribly horrible buy team?
They lost 50 straight games spanning 3 seasons from 07-09. They're the kind of school you laugh at for trying to field a basketball team. They play in a 1500 seat gym. For comparison's sake, Fordham's gym seats 3000. Now they're a team you schedule as a buy game and might regret it later. They're in the A-Sun and have a good shot at the automatic bid. He's done an outstanding job coaching, but recruiting would be a question mark.

More current head coaches: King Rice at Monmouth, Scott Nagy at S Dakota St, Steve Masiello at Manhattan, Jim Engles at NJIT, Will Brown at Albany, Scott Cross at UT Arlington, Mitch Henderson at Princeton, Steve Pikiell at Stony Brook, Jerod Haase at UAB, Russell Turner at UC Irvine, Pat Kelsey at Winthrop.

+1 Our tourney trips are still very relevant. Fans and recruits know who SLU is. Current high schoolers were in 7th to 10th grade during the tourney trips and were watching. Go 10+ years without a tourney trip and we'll be unknown again.
