  1. You could be comparing Mizzou to Syracuse or Kansas and I would still say you're wrong if you say that they "just jack up shots without any consideration." It's not about rhode island, it's about me thinking you don't know what mizzou's offense is like.

Mizzou's shot selection has been terrible most this season. Just listen to Gary Link every once in a while. He has really been on them. I do agree they run an offense, but I could see where someone would say they jack up shots without any consideration. It is all in the eye of the beholder.

  2. Here are some bullet points...this is what stood out to me after listening several hours ago.

    - Never been on that long of a road trip, said they practiced at St. Joseph's who were gracious hosts offering their video room, training facilities, etc. He said they landed with fire trucks and ambulances waiting on the tarmac as their plane had problems with the landing gear, or a tire or something.

    - Said they had one academic advisor with the team on the trip, but it's not the same as going to class since the tutor would have to have about 12 different degrees to have the knowledge encompassing the variety of all the classes the players are taking.

    - When asked about the A10, raved about the conference itself, said the reason he keeps talking about it is because that's all that people ask him about and that he's just answering questions. Said he really loves these players, more than he loves the conference, and because of that wants them to get the best education possible...with the current setup, he feels they aren't getting the education they deserve.

    - Said Dayton is really tough with a lot of experience. Asked people to come out tomorrow afternoon and support the team.

Thanks a lot. I appreciate it.

  3. Then we have the most fair weather student body in the country. UNC is struggling but I don't see students boycotting the games until Matt Doherty returns from his SMU exile.

Yeah, you are right. North Carolina and SLU are on the same playing field. Good call. Great post. Wow. Just wow.

  4. I am worried it might be blacked out here because Charter is carrying the game.

This better not be the case. I paid extra just to get this package to get games like this. I don't see how Charter can control the rights to the game - maybe if it were at home.

  5. wasnt your wife on the kiss cam with you or did you do your kissing with someone else?

Haha. Good point. It was the wife. Only game she goes to all season. The only damper on the evening was the kid throwing up in the aisle next to us and the throw-up in the hallway as we were leaving, which was well after the other kid left so I'm guessing it was from someone else. What the heck was going on last week? I could understand if the Billikens were shooting like they did against Bowling Gree, but they actually played pretty well!

  6. just trying to think rationally, IF ellis was cleared, AND saint louis university didnt take every opportunity available to scream that to the community (i.e. email blasts to alumni, season tix holders, radio shows, tv interviews, hell buy half hour infomercials this weekend on channel 11 and the travel station), then everyone associated with slu athletics should be fired.

my point, we would have heard. not saying the usher didnt hear something, i am saying he obviously misunderstood a key word or phrase somehow.

I agree. I don't believe any of it until I see CE here and playing. I was just passing along this info because Rican said CE was cleared. Who knows?

  7. CE has been cleared to play. Im not telling you where I heard that from, so don't ask.

Dirty Rican, thanks for the info about Matt Holiday playing PG tomorrow. I'll take your word. I'm excited.

I remain very skeptical about any CE info out there. But for what it is worth (which probably isn't much), my dad was talking with a usher that he knows at the game Wednesday. He brought up CE and the usher said the usher behind the Billikens bench was told by one of the coaches CE was cleared to play. Again, not sure you can believe any of this, but just thought I would throw it out there.

  8. You probably won't read the game thread, so I'll recap what I said there.

I didn't think Bocot's play was dirty it all, and I applaud his hustle. Yes, it was a hard foul, but he went for the ball and I didn't see any indication of his going for the body or doing anything extracurricular. I didn't agree with its being called flagrant. Mitchell should have run out the clock instead of showboating with the game already decided in the waning seconds. He wasn't injured by the foul, but he experienced cramps in his calves because of exerting the effort to dunk.

My dad officiated high school and college basketball for years. He sides with the refs 99 percent of the times (no joke - rarely says anything bad). On that play, he said he would have kicked that guy out of the game. He would not have hesitated - said that is why so many games get out of hands these days, letting guys get away with stuff like that. Sure, the guy was hustling, but there is NO reason to hit a guy like that at that point of the game. It is called common sense. And I also think it was a terrible move by Lowery to leave the kid out there that did that.

  9. My dad started taking me to games in the mid 50s when I was a kid so it has been about 55 years!

Does anyone remember the huge Nordmann brothers?

I'm related to the Nordmanns. Never saw them play, though - I'm too young.

My dad and I have had season tickets for six years - I think. He has had them about 10 or so now but we have been going to games together for a long time - probably 20-plus years.

  10. Suggs was just home for a while. Don't read anything more into it than that.

I have been told that it wouldn't be a surprise to see Suggs transfer. He isn't real happy where he is and the coaching staff wants him to get much stronger, which he still hasn't done yet. That said, I don't think SLU would be in the picture if he were to transfer from what I have been told. That is all I know.

  11. Porter Moser was on Cusamano's show this morning. He said TL was going to summer school and was finishing his degree. Moser said Lisch and Liddell were going to try and play professional somewhere and both were working hard in the gym. And Barry was going to finish his degree (has another semester left I believe) and will then try and pursue a professional career- he commended him for that. I caught the interview late and that is about all I heard.

  12. Everyone keeps revisiting the attendance from this past season, but it is pretty simple in my eyes. They made the prices way too high for the product and paid the price. They started running specials and promotions later in the year and the numbers were better. It is pretty simple - lower the prices. We are in tough times now and people aren't going to shell out $100 or $150 or whatever it would cost to take their family to a Billiken game. They need to get the casual fan back, which was missing last season for most of the year. Don't get me wrong - winning will help, but you also need to have more affordable tickets.

  13. Just curious, was there a chance you were going to drop the $450 seats and not have season tics?

The key is to find the price points where the people that would have dropped the tickets in favor of a few single games now go with season tickets but not to the point where people say I don't see any value in the $450 seats therefore I'll go to the cheapest available.

I don't think we would have dropped them, but you never know. My dad and I just said we would talk about our options after the season, thinking they would drop some season ticket prices.
