  1. So who do you give the Big 12 POY to, Acie Law or Kevin Durant? I have had a chance to see both of these kids play several times and I am not sure who I would say is more valuable to their team. It seems like Law has ice running thru his veins come crunch time and really steps up when it counts. Durant is one of the most talented players I have ever seen and is an absolute star.

  2. I am glad to finally get a commitment, but is this kid a legitimate recruit? I ask because last week I posted about him and asking if anyone knew anything about his game and received no real responses other than people chiming in on the excitement that there is a school called Boyz to Men Academy and one poster thinking he was Travis Relaford from the KC area. Now everyone is annointing Brad and the staff saints because they received a commitment from this kid. I recall the same excitement last year when Horace signed. It seems like anytime we sign anyone this board becomes ecstatic. I know nothing about this kid and thats why I was asking last week so I am not implying he is not a player, I just would like to hear from people who have seen him play. I did see him Saturday evening and he has a very solid build and at least looks the part.

  3. OJ, what schools are showing interest in Kramer Soderberg? I realize that his college choice may be a foregone conclusion, but I was curious what programs are pursuing him. Also, what are your thoughts on Hanlen out of Webster, what level do you see him being able to compete at?

  4. I thought that there was a fair amount of posts considering the game was on a Saturday night and today is a holiday. I am also unsure how much excitement you expect a 4 point victory over a lousy team to generate. LaSalle is 10-17 on the season (3-10 in conference) with a rpi of 275 and we beat them at home by 4 in an absolutely disguisting display of basketball; not sure what you are looking for. I am glad we got the win, but not a whole lot of positives from this one. Everyone around me enjoyed the half-time performance by the dance team and their fathers.

  5. Why does it matter what group you are in to have an opinion on which player is a beter prospect? I have seen the two play a couple of times and always felt that Roundtree was the better prospect, regardless if I think Brad Soderberg should be fired. I was asking the question to see what people thought about these two prospects. I know for a fact that the staff had offered John long ago and view him as a priority and do not know if we offered Roundtree or not. I am just wondering if people think this was the right move. I had a chance to see Roundtree play at the Hoop Jamboree and felt like he was a solid player, likely a midmajor prospect. I have only seen John in high school games and I never got the impression that he was a high level player.

  6. About a week ago I was pretty certain that Missouri State was essentially a lock for the NCAA Tournament, but looking at things this morning they may be in for another disappointing March. Missouri State sits at 19-9 and has lost 4 of their last 6 games at home and have lost two straight after losses to SIU and Winthrop. They have an rpi of 41. SLU currently has an rpi of 77, a couple slots ahead of Washington at 81 and below Mizzou at 75.

  7. Regardless of how the team looked throughout the game, one has to be proud to see that this team did not fold it up and came away with the comeback win. It would have been easy for those guys to say well here's another loss, lets get out of here as soon as possible so we can get down to Soulard and booze our faces off.

  8. Just out of curiousity and this is directed to those who know, is Femi John considered a better recruit than Torres Roundtree? I am not sure why we have marked John a top level recuit over a kid like Roundtree. Is anyone else even recruiting John?

I heard Marcus Relphorde attended the game Saturday evening.

  9. I think a lot of times seniors get to a point in the season where they are ready to move on and cash it in, especially if things are not going well. I think that maybe Ian cashed it in a long time ago and is ready for the next step in his life. I just don't understand the move at this point in the season. It is a little late to be trying to motivate your all-conference center. Ian and Soderberg do not have a good relationship and I am sure he will not take this demotion as motivation. I think if you talked to Ian he would tell you he is ready to move on and be done with Saint Louis University.

  10. Thats why I think those guys should have been getting minutes the entire season. I just never understood why Bryce and Adam were not getting any playing time throughout the season. I mean those guys hardly played in the preseason and in the early gimme games. I think most posters on this board questioned why these two were receiving so little pt and to just now start playing these kids seems a little late in my opinion.

I find it interesting to bench Ian with a handful of games left in the season and I found it just as interesting when he benched Reggie for the first game of his senior season in favor of Darren Clarke. I felt like that set a bad tone for the season and I feel like this decision just does not make much sense at this point in the season.

  11. I guess the mature move is telling a bus driver to leave when a kid is a few minutes late. I hope he enjoys that nice house in the county with the basketball court because he did nothing to earn that.

Ian is not going to get drafted based on what he does these remaining games, he will get drafted on what he does at the pre-draft camps and individual team work-outs.

  12. motoy, see my post below; I am admitting ignorance to this and you are right, it is not my place to say whether or not someone should be offended by a mascot. The fact of the matter is, if people are offended by something enough that they want it gone, then it should probably be gone. I apologize if I offended you by taking this situation lightly. Did you say you work in the energy field?

  13. Pistol, I think the line that sums up my position is "you just don't get it." I don't understand how someone could honestly care what an athletic team decides to use as their mascot, but that is just me. I do care if people honestly feel offended by something, I just don't see how having an Indian for a mascot is offensive. Like I said, that is just me and it may be completely ignorant to feel that way. Sorry if I offended anyone by taking this subject matter lightly, but like I said I dont get it. Pistol, I'm from Texas...BANG,BANG,BANG...

  14. Dressing a guy up like a Mexican and having him dance around with a lawnmower would be offensive. I just think people are overreacting. Its not like they are having some guy dressed up like an Indian running around drinking booze, gambling, and smoking a pipe.

  15. JJ is the definition of garbage. The kid has no athletic or basketball ability. The only thing the kid can do is stand and jump, otherwise he flails around the court like a baby giraffe turning the ball over every other time he touches it and giving up layups and rebounds on the defensive end.

Danny has ability, he just needs to play within himself. He has too many lapses on offense and defense. If he would play under control and play sound I think he would be a solid contributor. The kid has the tools to be successful, he just has to put it together.

  16. I am not going to sit here and say that the benching of Ian is completely unwarranted, but why make this move with a handful of games left in the season? It is not like he was setting the world on fire the first half of the season and is now laying an egg. Why not do this a month into the season? With this season going as it is, I think that few seniors would take this move and respond to it. I just don't understand why you do this so late in the season to a senior. If I was Ian I would tell Soderberg to enjoy the rest of the season and to go suck one.
