  1. While everyone from the stltoday people, to the ingnorant stl sports fan has had their pampers in a bunch, even some Billiken fans to a lesser extent.....

People are missing the point. HCRM has pulled a Tony LaRussa on everyone. Instead of focusing on what this team may accomplish and adding more pressure, HCRM has everyone focused on a "supposed" rift between himself, Fr. Biondi, Lambert Airport, the FAA, TSA, etc... not on his very young team.

If you take care of a tough one today, which is the biggest game any of these guys have ever played, run the table at home and win one of two road games... Maybe my math is wrong but that leaves you 21-9 (12-4), and you win two games in A10 tournament, well Billiken Fans Selection Sunday just got real interesting......

    Beat the Flyers........

  2. Good to see you're paying attention to what most people are saying.

Like I said, most of you are the group of guys in the back of the bar that are pissed that all the hot girls gave you the Heisman.

The schedule is what it is! So on Saturday December 6th when we run Savannah State out of Chaifetz, the "Debbie Downer's" will

be wishing we got run out of our own gym by pick your BCS school.

As always this board loves to complain.

  3. All these great home and homes, which we all like and enjoy, usually have ESPN/ABC/CBS/FSN as part of the deal these days.

I know Rickma has his connections at ESPN, but with the lack of NCAA appearences, etc.. SLU just isn't a great draw these

days outside of the conference schedule.

Rick/Chris May: "Hey Lew Perkins/Bill Self, how about we set up a home and home

    between the Billikens and Jayhawks?"

Lew/Bill: "Well guys, we'll do a home and home at the Scottrade, we won't play you at your new arena, not enough seats for our fans,

but really we would like you to come to Allen Fieldhouse and play us this year, we'll offer you cash. Folks we just won the

NCAA Tournament, we'll play you on our terms, when is the last time you played in the tournament?"

    Rick/Chris: "Have a nice day!"

  4. tee, if we hadnt had better schedules in the recent past or if we were coming off a string of really poor years you might make sense.

    if have and we arent.

    Roy:

then call Chris May's office and offer your services to become chief schedule maker and while you are at it, ask him for the list of schools he tried to schedule.

what I am saying is the man tried. BCS schools are not that excited about traveling to STL to play a game when they only really want us to come to play at their place. You see we are considered a "BUY" game right now.

  5. you guys can ***** and complain about the schedule all you want.

BUT scheduling is a two way street. SLU and school X have to agree on the terms.

you guys sound like a bunch of guys in the corner of the bar complaining about not picking up

good looking women, because the hot girl gave you the heisman. Unless school X agrees to play SLU, SLU is left at the bar only to

"go home" with the girl that looks the best in beer goggles.

the AD TRIED to schedule really big name schools, believe me he did.

the schedule is what it is. Until SLU consistantly wins, the name schools will laugh just as the hot girl laughs at the dorky guy with too much

colgne and members only jacket on! Try this, enjoy the NEW ARENA!

  6. Rich that is not a very civic minded attitude B)

anyway, I am not saying I know anything, but from what I have heard and can fill in between the lines, I put this out there:

Last December when #28's number was retired and the commissioner was here for the event, there was a dinner at Tony's. Bernie quickly dismissed the meeting as meaning nothing. What took place was a dinner with Gooddell, Kronke, Tony Ponturo of the Brewery, Nierdorf of Centene, the owner of the Houston AB distributor(Largest AD Wholesaler in the world) and a few other St.Louis business people and some NFL folks. Basically Kronke is most likely putting together a group that will at some point buy the team from the Rosenbloom family. Stan only needs to own 30% of the team under an ownership group scenario, like the STL Cardinal baseball group. Stan currently owns 40%.

Bernie dismisses this meeting/dinner as some NFL/AB marketing visit, wrong. AB is very influential, they are like the greasemen when you need something to happen.

When Chip decides to sell his families part of the team, Stan will have a group in place to purchase the remaining piece. Now for the stadium issues.

These are just controled leaks to get the region ready for a new stadium. The Dome will be replaced in 5 to 6 years, the only question is how much the region has to cough up, how much Kronke and Rams pay, how much the NFL loans the Rams and where will it be located - "blighted" land on the riverfront near Soulard and the largest brewer of beer's headquarters.

Could be a conspiracy theory or just my imagination......however I did see the meeting agenda sheet for the dinner at Tony's ;)

  7. Hey Tee. Now you know what it feels like to lose all those recruiting battles to USC, i.e., V. Hazleton, B Green

been losing on the losing end of SLU recruiting since as long as I can remember, Jahidi White. I still remember the hats lined up and the smile on his face when he put the GU hat on.

USC has some serious closers on their recruiting staff. SLU, Coach, the Staff, facilites, revived tradtion will get us there!

    FIGHT ON!

  8. Clearly there is a difference in every situation, but I disagree that no comparisons can be made. BTW, how did you know I was talking about Broderick Green? I was under the impression he left USC.

Life long Trojan fan, no Broderick is still there - 5th on the post spring tailback depth chart. He will get his chance, but he has to earn it.

  9. Hey JH, something to think about before you select UK, if that is what you are thinking of doing.

I will use a football analogy. Check out all the 4 and 5 star recruits who select USC every year. Over the last 4 or 5 years, they must have recruited about 100 of these guys. We all here about the 8 or 10 guys who get selected by the pros, but we don't hear about all those top level recruits who rode the pine or who transferred out to go someplace else to get playing time. There are so many top level recruits that go there every year that many good players never get a chance to prove themselves. Then there is the QB (Flacco)who went to Delaware, a division 1-AA school. He got drafted in the 1st round by Baltimore. He was originally recruited by Pitt but transferred out because he wanted to play. What would have happened to him had he stayed at Pitt?

What I'm saying is don't be blinded by tradition or glitz. Sit down and put the positives and negatives down on a peice of paper. In a calm and reasoned way, list your priorities and see which school satisfies want you want out of your college basketball experience. If its glitz and tradition, UK may be your school. If its a higher probability of playing, and of playing before your family and home town folks, and for a coach who has a reputation of putting big guys in the pros, SLU may be your school. I remember this one RB from Arkansas last year who chose USC over my undergard school on letter of intent day. He got all caught up in the glitz of USC. So he chose them. Later that week he reflected on the situation and realized he chose USC for the wrong reasons, he went back to my alma mater and asked them if they would take him if he could get a release from USC. Well to make a long story short he wound up staying at USC. This highly rated 4 star RB recently transferred out of USC. I'm not sure where he is at regarding his career.

Just something to think about if you read this board

If you are talking about Broderick Green, he redshirted last season, has four years of eligibilty left, he will get his chance to prove he can play at USC, it is all about competition there. In Green's case other schools recruit against USC saying you'll never play there, however they have gone to three straight Rose Bowls and 6 straight BCS bowls. Emanuel Moody left USC because he got passed on the depth chart by better players, so he left for Florida only to be buried on their depth chart because the Florida coach sold him the brooklyn bridge. USC doesn't promise playing time, they guarantee excellent competition on a daily basis, the opportunity to compete against the best and the chance at National Championship every year. Trying to compare USC's recruiting in football is like apples and oranges to UK's recruitment of Josh.

In Josh's case UK has the better tradition, better conference, BUT SLU has the better school, coach, facilities, and dare I say UK is a program in decline..??..

  10. A good way to look at it is: should I do what is best me or should I go ahead stay past my curfew because it seems like a good idea because the guys are giving me a hard time and its gonna be fun, but when I get home too late my parents ground me and I wind up missing out on the real fun because I got grounded and have to do yard work. Then 10 years later when you missed that great opportunity you realize that the 10 minutes of fun with the guys was an absolute waste of time because you missed that great opportunity that doesn't come along to often.

    Academics - SLU

    Facilites - SLU

    Conference - UK

    Coaching - SLU

    Tradition - UK

    Reading Comprehension - SLU

Ability to speak the English Language - SLU

Proximity to World's Largest Brewer of Beer - SLU

Proximity to World's Larget Pile of Horse Sh!t - UK

Worst grass in the history of golf, Blue Grass, THANK KENTUCKY, I HATE BLUE GRASS.

Josh, GO TO SLU, Great Education, Great Coach, Help Build A Program!

    FIGHT ON!

just a couple of things to think about the bluegrass state

  11. Since we will probably be in the arena building, it would be nice. And we may have a view of the arena. But when you are up against a 3 minute time period, there isn't time for each person to roam around the arena trying to decide which seat they want. Now maybe they will suggest people come early to decide, but I would doubt that each sold seat would be marked. I think the best that can be hoped for, is that you will have some time before you are scheduled to look around and get a general idea of what you would want. Then you will go to a board or on the computer, and select your top choice.

can you just imagine the sports medicine facility is going to be full of older men who have pulled hamstrings, twisted ankles and skinned up knees. The new practice gym, weight room and locker room will be full of guys getting ready for their 3 minute sprint to find their new seats............................ :D
