  1. The fight song is "When the Saints Go Marching In", we play it quite a bit, you might have heard it once or twice. And the fight song you refernce will never be sung or played again, the band guarantees it. You're right, it was a travisty. I hear a rumor though that we're in the process of finding someone to write us a new fight song. Saint's is great and all but it's missing a certain something for sure.

  2. One other thing that I've noticed about JJ is his abilty to hit the mid-range jumper. It's a lost art, to quote SportsCenter, and he is very good at getting open for it and hitting it.

  3. I've heard of this "Budweiser" and "Michelob" but wasn't quite sure they existed. To me they sounded much like the Loch Ness Monster, Bigfoot, or quality CUSA refs. People talk about them but nobody has actually seen them. But apparently they do exist! The fact remains the same though, it's a lot for a jersey of marginal quality. Now if they could get some shorts in the bookstore they might be onto something.

  4. You can't have the names on the jerseys for sale in college because of NCAA rules. And for $80 I'd expect the jersey off the Reggie's back. They are not the nice Nike ones with the sports material but more of a replica baseball jersey type stuff. It's nice that we have something but that is just nuts to think college students would pay that much for a jersey that isn't even the real thing at that price. I mean you can buy a lot of Natty with $80...

  5. Last year we did a pre-game with the lights out, spotlights going, music, and a video going on a couple of occasions. If I recall correctly though Brad said that he only does that when he feels that his players have earned it. This season didn't provide many occasions for Brad to feel that way I imagine. But I do agree with you, the lights out and the pump up music really does a lot for the atmosphere.

  6. I would have loved to see more students too but as seems to be a theme with the Athletic Department there was no promotion for the game. If you don't already know about a game around here you're not going to find anything out. I know it's beating a dead horse on this board but I wish the AD would do something to let students know about games. It would have been nice to have a halfway respectable student section for a national game.

  7. jjray, if my memory serves me correctly I don't think Clarke even suited up tonight. I think I saw him walking around in normal clothes and a windbreaker. It sure was tough not having a TO to get a play set up for that last shot though.

  8. I thought we played pretty well toinght too. I agree that the FT killed us. But the 3 pt shots were pretty bad too. I don't know the final % but we were 2-12 at the half and didn't seem to improve much after that. But if we can play a veteran team like UAB close with bad FT and 3 pt. shooting I see blue skys ahead.

  9. If I recall correctly the Savvis seats about 26,000 and that's a whole lot of folks. But I don't think a 12,500 stadium would be too big. Even with this year's crummy team we managed to draw 8,500 to the game against Charlotte on a Saturday night. 8,500 people look like a whole lot more in a 12.5K stadium than they do in a 26K person cave. It would be more fun though, I think, to have about a 9,000 person stadium and really get the place rockin' and a homecourt advantage here in the next couple of years.

  10. The old Billiken is way better than the current version of just the face or the one with the basketball. Also, I haven't seen the old physical mascot but the current one got new eyes last year and he looks like he's tripped out. It may be just me but I'm no fan of the eyes. I hope someone else noticed this so I don't look dumb!

  11. I got to watch a good part of the Illinois game tonight and it was almost like they were running a whole different offense than SLU. But what really did it for them was being able to spread the floor which was created by some stellar shooting. I've been watching a lot of Bills games and I was yelling at the TV on some of the shots the Illini were taking. It just shows what a system a motion offense is if you can get some shoots to fall. I hope this team was taking notes b/c Illinois ran it to a T. Here's to a bright future for our Bills!

  12. He's got a point. Brad tells us that his ultimate goal is to be a fast break, running team. So let's see it. Think back to the Hawaii game when we went on the 14-0 run, how did we do it? We were running the whole time. There was energy in the Savis, people were out of their seats cheering. Shoot, the players were pumped too and it showed. I remember Polk yelling and hitting his chest at the defensive side of the court because he was so fired up. Work with that, let them have fun. You're more likely to do better when you enjoy your job. It was fast basketball and did our defense break down? No, it did not. We've prooved that we can play defense but let them run. We, allegidly, run a motion offense. The name of our offense is a verb and all we do is stand around. Pretty soon the pigeons are going to start pooping on us out there. Don't abandon the defense we've developed but open the game up more.
