I'm sure these boards are controlled by Father Biondi. They have to be. They are on university property.First half: No tracking of the FG, FT, steals-assists-TOs, etc. stats on the end scoreboards.
Second half: End scoreboards work, no tracking of the individual player stats on the main scoreboard.
Did no one bother to do a dry-run to make sure game-day stuff works as it should?

Grandymama's energy is awesome.
-
Grandymama!

Grandymama in the starting lineup! Rather surprising.Based on the exhibition (which i didn't see), it doesn't seem like he is in the plan to get major minutes.
-
We'll deserved!
-
That really sucks. He rebounds and defends ... which this team will need on the interior. We'll get a glimpse then as to what John Manning is about under game pressure. Perhaps more Grandymama.Timmerman just reported that CR is unlikely to play with a knee sprain.

Textbook example of "ain't playing with a full deck"! This could turn into an internet meme.and he's short a card, too. but we all knew that. what a gotdamn idiot. i hope this dolt gets something tatted on his face soon so he can start living under overpasses full time.

Love it. The coach getting a yellow!Kristo has a second goal wiped off due to a suspect offside call. McGinty issue a yellow card.

Crews have anything interesting to say?

I picked Cory as my sleeper inside player last week. Glad to hear the solid report on him from the pregame. He might be our best rebounder outside of Dwayne but I was impressed with the way Cody improved on the defensive glass as the season progressed last year. Jett is a beast of a rebounder of guard. He'll help the bigs.I was at the game. I noticed that CR no longer has that deer in the headlights look and no hesitation as to what to do with the ball. Not perfect, but much better.

I'd rather go this route given the talent we have rather than scheduling a 250+ gooey cupcake for the first game. Even without Mitchell, our entire starting lineup will be upperclassmen. They'll take care of business.I just read an article on them where Pomeroy has them ranked #2 in SC behind Clemson. They're ranked higher than CofC, USC, Furman, and Coastal Carolina. They are picked to come in 2nd in Atlantic Sun conference. I suspect they'll be athletic. Also, their coach has been there since day 1. As someone said they're 97 in Pomeroy's overall ranking. This won't be the cakewalk I expected, ie a 30 point blowout. Instead it will be a good opening day test for the Bills and Crews. A game we should win, but we've seen too many UT Martins, AK Little Rocks, etc come here and win. Hopefully, those days are far behind us.

That's a fair ranking. The Majerus factor, losing Conk and Mitchell out with a broken foot throw a fair amount of uncertainty into this team. I'm concerned we will stumble out of the gate before finding our footing. If we start strong, look out. We'll only get better as the year progresses.I have us at 34 which is considerably better than last year when we started around 60.
If we have a succesful KC trip we could climb very quickly.

Where do you have us ranked going into the season Wiz? Just curious.

I was trying to come up with that one as well. If the person exposed to the show was not a minor, I'm guessing some claim that negligent action (or intentional indifference) on the part of the university led to the kid's emotional distress. Been a long while since I was engaged in the tort game but that claim may require physical injury to make. Maybe they go for some catch all like "outrageous conduct". In all likelihood the claimants are banking on the fact that they will be paid to go away based on the media coverage alone. What could one possibly sue over? An 18 year or older student walking in on two adults having sex, even if it was in an inappropriate place, is grounds for a lawsuit?!?

+1 He's a liability on the defensive end trying to guard a quality 1, 2 or 3 and he doesn't bring enough to the table on the offensive end to make up for his deficiencies on the defensive end. We were led to believe he was a shooter. Haven't seen it. Play Drew @3.Barnett is not good. Too slow to play 1 or 2 with no handles. Not big enough to play 3 and doesn't shoot well enough to make up for his shortcomings on both ends. Have to think he is the 9th guy now and won't play once Kwamain comes back at all. By that time Drew needs to supplant him.

Good for Willie. Not sure how many more chances he will get but hope he does something productive this season in the D league.

+1 I was thinking the same thing. Crews will be more willing to give time to a traditional 5 willing to park in the paint and battle.I wonder if Cory could see more time with Crews as coach. Crews may not like the 6'10 bigs who are more shooters than post players. Could see Manning and Cory splitting time and Rob and Cory splitting time.
-
Cory is my sleeper to become that inside presence this team lacks. I'm not suggesting a Conk senior season, just that he give us 20 minutes a game, rebounds strongly and be a guy we can throw the ball to on the low post to score. Probably will be a match up thing. There will be games where the opposing 5 just won't be able to deal with his quickness. Can Cory exploit that? I hope so.25lbs that's a lot of Pasta House. I think my home boy Remekun needed it the most to push people around in the low post.

When and where is the assembly point? I'll have to dig out my torch and pitch fork. I've got them hidden away somewhere.

I was thinking it would be awesome to see Coach Majerus arise out of the darkness and show up at the team's NCAA game. Even if he were a mere spectator, it would be like Willis Reed hobbling out of the tunnel to take on the Celtics in the championship.Nice publicity. Katz is a Majerus fan, we've gotten some love from him since the big guy has been at the helm. Watching that I was thinking it be nice for Coach to make a recovery and come back for the next season knowing it was his final year for a victory lap. It could help with the transition depending on our options at the end of this season.

+1 on the McGinty hire. It gives me hope should May be hiring a new basketball coach in the Spring.Looks like May and McGinty have the Billikens about a year ahead of schedule for becoming good again. Very nice hire who has done an outstanding job. They Billikens are once again fun to follow.

The issue with the loss of Mitchell is one of leadership, not skillset IMHO. You lose a 5th year senior and guy who has the ball in his hands when the shot clock winds down to be replaced with a freshman in the rotation (albeit a very talented freshman). Mitchell never plays 3. That's not the problem.
-
Seriously, I think an intern wrote this.
"The absence of Kwamain Mitchell to a broken foot complicates matters since Mitchell could play the 1, 2 or 3 if needed, and the other guards, Mike McCall, Jordair Jett and freshman Keith Carter, don't have that versatility."
Kwamain Mitchell @ maybe 5'10" can play the 3 but Jett cannot? How does anyone who has followed the Billikens say that?

I was thinking of Dustin McGuire as well while watching the video but he is able to put the ball on the floor in traffic, which McGuire couldn't (at least when he arrived at SLU). Not a Kyle Cassity because he attacks and shoots when he gets the ball in his hands (at least judging by a highlight clip). We can always use more shooters but we really need a big for the next class. Not holding my breath on that.I worry about 6'5" white kids that do most of their damage inside in HS and that is mostly what the highlight video shows. I don't want 6'5" 4's. Dustin McGuire ring any bells? For me the worry is ... does he have quick enough feet to guard the perimiter. If the answer is no, I don't want him as I only want him as a 2-3 perimiter player. It's hard to tell from the video or to even judge his form or if he has a quick enough release to get his shot off consistently. I just know ... No more 6'5" bigs. If the staff feels he can play on the perimiter I like it, it's that simple

Steve Nash is an SC alum. The memory of Steve Nash two decades later counts for 5 points. Bills by 15. Getting Cory back helps the good guys though. One would think Carter gets better by the day. I'm expected us to play better than the Upstate game. We need incremental progress each game. Beast mode in conference.
