  2. That article was pure awesome. Other owners pissed at Kroenke. Check. Kroenke clearly struggling with this lawsuit. Check Kroenke threating to sue the other owners. Check. Talk of settlements in excess of $1b. Check

  4. I guarantee you that there isn’t a single coach in college basketball who doesn’t play their stars during exhibition games. The point of these games is to warm up and start to develop some chemistry before the season begins. Freak injuries happen unfortunently. Nothing wrong with Ford

The journey that is being a SLU fan is one of the most painful, least rewarding experiences of my life. While there are occasional respites from the agony, for the most part it's akin to being repeatedly kicked in the testicles.

It happened in the first half. Perkins played 10 minutes. He probably would've played about 10 more the rest of the game. No matter how much you're up, no matter how much you expect to win by, taking your star out after 10 minutes is not something I've seen any coach do, ever. Putting this on Ford is absurd.

I had a slight tear in my MCL and was back slamming beers and hitting dingers on the slow pitch softball field 2 weeks later. Since this is obviously the same level of competition as high end D1 hoops 1 don’t see why it would be any different for Perkins. Either way Mr. Perkins has my T and Ps.

  14. AAC getting raided. C-USA collapsing. Sun Belt potentially forcing members out. Many schools left in the lurch (Wichita St., UA-Little Rock, UTSA, FIU, UTEP). Being basketball only and being in the BE or A10 has never looked so good.

  15. totally agree. imo nesbit showed pretty well. he exhibited skills and traits only once in a lifetime players can do. what was rough was a shot and patience. the patience will come with coaching and experience. the shot is anyone's guess. but imo he is the goodwin replacement at the very least. i wouldnt be surprised how good this kid turns out. the best trait was his effort, intensity and hustle. the kid doesnt take time off. couple that with that incredible athleticism and desire to play he's a winner. just give him some time. in the same sense, i think the same can be said about okoro. the fact that these two might end up by march as our two best players says a lot about this roster's depth and potential imo. i remain pretty darn excited for the billikens.

  16. I think the idea that Nesbit was disappointing is misplaced. He looked a little nervous to start and forces a few things but settled down and impressed me. he is very athletic and has a great basketball build. He appeared to be the second best ballhandler on the team. If and I do mean if Perkins can't go for awhile we will see a lot more of Nesbit and TJ on the floor together.

  17. The interesting thing I saw in the article is that one owner, his quote via a source, said that they would not have approved the Rams move if Kroenke did not agree to cover the legal fees. Translation, they knew what they were doing was improper when they were doing it and were counting on a lawsuit.

  26. Imagine how awesome the Loop Trolley would be if St. Louis had 2 billion dollars to throw at it.

  27. I read an article about the Chargers and St. Louis. The Chargers owner said no way to St. Louis and St. Louis probably did not want another crappy owner so I think the feeling was mutual. I know nothing of the law but I feel what hurts the NFL the most in this case is that the NFL sent a rep to St. Louis to assist on how to keep the team, knowing that was never going to happen. The plaintiffs spent 16 million dollars on the plan to build the new stadium on the riverfront and the Rams left town violating the relocation agreement because of the new stadium plan. StanK is upset because the NFL sent a rep that helped the group put together a plan that the plaintiffs pulled off and is the basis for StanK not meeting the relocation rules and it has cost him millions in legal fees. I hope all of these billionaires eat each other over this. I hope St. Louis concentrates on making professional soccer big in our town not the NFL.

  29. That’s probably making too large of a jump. They just knew there would be a lawsuit regardless of merit. Any deal of that size will have an indemnification clause to get across the finish line.

  30. I've been thinking for a while about an interesting strategy for the NFL to resolve this matter. There is a concept in the law called "mitigation of damages." It essentially means that if a person who is claiming they are damaged sues, the defendant can argue that they tried to make things right or that the plaintiff had an opportunity to make things right, but that the plaintiff didn't take advantage of that opportunity. Instead, the plaintiff just counted on making a bunch of money in the lawsuit. The classic law school example is that someone hits your boat. Your boat slowly sinks over the course of a week. You could have driven the boat across the marina and had it repaired for $100, but you didn't. You just let it sink. The defendant in that situation can successfully argue that it only owes $100, the repair costs, and not the full value of the boat. I've heard rumors that the NFL offered the St. Louis legal team the Chargers to settle the case. St. Louis rejected the offer. Not that I'm cheering for the NFL to get out of this, but I think the NFL, to limit its damages, should just give St. Louis the Chargers. "Here you go. The Chargers now play in St. Louis. You have no choice in the matter. They are now the St. Louis Chargers." Spanos can still own the team here. We had a team with an owner before the dispute. Now we have a team with an owner after the dispute. The Chargers would play in the Dome since that is what we had before. The damages that St. Louis can claim significantly diminish to what we spent to try to keep the Rams. I know many in St. Louis say that they never want another NFL team, but if the NFL used this strategy, it could, potentially, save itself a lot of money.

  31. i actually thought nesbit's shot was far more inconsistent than at anytime in goodwin's career. nesbit's shot was a different release, trajectory, spin, etc every time he let it fly. i always thought goodwin's form looked fine, but his arch was terribly in consistent and his selection opportunities were not the best. but from a strictly mechanical look, i'd take freshman goodwin slightly over last night's nesbit. but as i said above there wasnt much else he didnt do as good or better than everyone on the team. one time he was trapping on the bench side of the floor the ball was reversed, the rockhurst player took a dribble up the cross court side of the floor went to reverse his progress and was met by nesbit who had sprinted across the floor to stunt on a trap. it was beautiful. i am big fan of that defensive technique and loved seeing it. twice he came from behind to block shots on help defense and his head was by the rim and his arm up near the square. wow. he had an in the lane pass late in the game that if i hadnt seen him throw it and collins was out of the game, i would have sworn it was a yuri pass. my point is, just because nesbit didnt score 40 points, there is nothing to get down about. he's a player. it's just a matter of time.

  36. Roy, we look good every year when running and pushing the tempo against teams like Rockhurst. If every team on our schedule was Rockhurst, that is definitely the way to go. The problem is that our new guys play in these early games and think that this is just like AAU where everyone plays like that. Then they get into a real game against a real opponent and struggle looking like chickens running around with their heads cut off (which by the way, they looked like several times last night against an inferior opponent). I was finding myself wishing last night that Ford would have instructed them not to do that for about ten minutes and just work on the half court offense.

Alright… positive vibes. its going to be ok. there was an article last night on stltoday that said “Perkins left the arena on crutches after spending the second half in the locker room and said he felt pain when he was injured but was not experiencing any as he left for the night. He is expected to undergo further testing Wednesday morning.” so let’s cross the bridge when we come to it. someone said there was a picture of it, but I wasn’t able to find it (albeit, it was not a strong effort on my part to find it)

Not quite, almaman said he saw him hopping out of the court on his right leg, the left leg did not touch the ground. We will know today. I think you are correct that normal people are going nowhere after a knee dislocation, but injured athletes and soldiers may be able to do it because of their physical conditioning. We will find out.

exactly, this is what i feared most when he said he was coming back. an injury that might affect his future and keep him from making a living or at least keeping him from maxing out his ability. praying he will be fine. but he knew it was bad. didnt even wait to head down the tunnel. i fear this isnt good for the billikens or perkins.

First game of the season. You go up 21-3 and lead 65-15 at one point. The only thing you can take away from a game like this is that at least one of the teams isn’t very good.
