Potential D1 players under the radar screen

With all the hype over Suggs, Griffey, Soderberg and others there are a number of other potential D1 players in St. Louis Metro that do not appear to be on anyone's radar screen, except possibly Earl Austin's.

We probably have enough offers out there already but here are some players that have D1 potential that we might at least want to look at:

Richard Rose/Troy - this very athletic 6'3" player dominated the

Meramec tourney last week. I saw him take control in the 3rd quarter with a 16 pt. outburst that included a slam dunk and 3 3pt. shots. Fast, strong with an outside shooting touch. A Luke Meyer/Chris Sloan type player who looks and plays bigger than 6'3."

Will Kirksey/Lafayette - 6'7" Soph. forward who looked good at the Shootout. Strong inside game with a nice shooting touch from 8-10 ft. A 6th man who is playing in Tyler's shadow.

Sean Duff/Westminister - 6'0" Soph point guard who started as a frosh in a very strong WCA program. A quick, creative point guard

with a nice touch from the arc.

Jordan Loveless/Metro - 6'5" Jr. small forward with both inside and outside skills. Comes from a family of BB players. Has been injured first semester but will rejoin the team this week.

Stacy Smith/Miller Career Acad. - 6'1" Jr. shooting guard who broke open the Westminister game last week at MICDS tourney with 4 consecutive 3's. Injured last year. Plays in Chris Stokes shadow but size may make Smith a better D1 prospect. Remainds me of Darren Brooks.

I think its great that Brad is shooting for the stars in our next 2 recruiting classes. If we miss, however, some of these players are worth a look.

from the eastside, i would add to the list:

6'8" sophomore, will lawson from belleville althoff

5'9" sophomore, durrand sain from east st louis

6'5" junior, kenny leverette from o'fallon

they definitely merit veiwing.

Roy,

Thanks for the info; I rarely get to the East Side but the kid from Althoff sounds particularly interesting. Also, I haven't ever seen Allen from Maplewood play and I know Earl is high on him. Have you seen him ? I would also be interested in any thoughts that Nate, P Diddy or others have on any of these players.

the rumor on the lawson kid is that he is currently not playing because he is a pawn in a marital settlement. now that is sad.

i know for a fact that coach soderberg is aware of lawson. lawson was at coach soderberg's camp at althoff when he was a 6'5" 8th grader and i know he caught soderberg's eye then already.

i have not been able to see any missouri basketball this year yet as i am spending more and more time watching high school girls ball now that my daughter is playing high school basketball.

that said, i am planning to see alton friday nite (alton is the best team on the metro east side imo) and it coincides with jeremy felton's return to the court. jeremy is now playing at belleville west after transferring from belleville east after transferring from belleville althoff. felton is about as athletic as it gets and is very entertaining to watch. he is likely a juco to be though.

earl was at the same game i was when i watched kenny leverette a few weeks ago. i havent had a chance to ask him what he thought of kenny.

I think SLU could really get some good players from the East Side (see Liddell and Lisch). Mizzou is going to go after good players on the MO side of St. Louis, but Illinois focuses more on Chicago. Therefore I think SLU has a better chance with good players from the East Side of StL.

I am so insulted. You know these guys are on my radar especially loveless from metro. I've been raving about him since his freshman season. Kenny Leverette just keeps growing doesnt he. I remember him entering high school around 6'0. As far as Stacy Smith of CA I dont think he's D1, but he can shoot. The sophomore big men 6'5 Charles Brooks, and Jerome Jones have more potential, especially the quick and athletic Jones.

No, I've definitely mentioned Rose and Loveless. I even posted the thread in the summer where was Rose's dad was talking about the importance of AAU and how he didnt get any serious attention before playing with a big time AAU program. Th article wasnt about him, I think it was about Jesse Perry I think. Also, I've talked about Loveless many time especially when speaking about Gameface and his Gameface teammates Cornelius Walker of Vashon and Anthony James of Normandy. Must you shadow my every post and try to tear me down?

Other guys i'd like to add to the list are junior 6'1 Anthony James sophomore 6'2 Lonnie Boga of McCluer, senionr 6'3 Keon Griffin of Hazelwood West, sophomore 6'1 Doug Wallace of Berkeley. 6'7 junior Abel Tillman of Berkeley. 6'6 Brian McGee of Jennings. Lastly 6'1 junior Anthony Jones of Cardinal Ritter are some under the radar guys.
