billiken_roy
the below link goes to a story running at espn.com about bliss and an attempt to coverup the happenings at baylor. nasty stuff that really shows that bliss is a bad bad man. how many more college coaches are of this type? shockingly ugly imo. http://msn.espn.go.com/ncb/news/2003/0815/1597177.html
slufanskip
It is a sad case!!! I thought Bliss had a pretty decent rep. Then to throw it all away ... now possible criminal charges
Lobo
Tragic news all around. Patrick loses his life. Baylor loses its basketball program. UNM loses respect for its winningest coach ever. Two talented kids (Marlon and Patrick) who should have felt blessed to be on the same team didn't. With their loss, the Lobo’s lost. With their transgressions, Fran Fraschilla lost. When Patrick walked out on McKay, he was unknowingly heading to an early grave. When did Bliss lose HIS compass? However, did any of us really know Dave Bliss? A very sad story and a major shot at the integrity of major college athletics.
Billiken Law
Skip Bayless was guest hosting for Jim Rome last week and spoke of the Bliss/Baylor situation. Bayless knew Bliss when he was the hottest assistant on the market while at Indiana and he was a stright-laced, squeeky-clean coach. He went to SMU and the pressure to win started mounting and he let himself get involved with the same boosters who took down the SMU football program. He moved on to New Mexico and did things the right way there, but felt too much pressure and left for Baylor, a job that almost required rule breaking because of the situation it's in being a Big 12 member when it has no business being in that conference and he lost his way. A sad story for sure.
DeSmetBilliken
Wow. I think that Baylor really just needs to have the program shut down for a couple of years while this all sorts out. I'd guess that there will be all sorts of civil and maybe criminal charges in light of this whole thing in addition to Dotson's murder charge. Whether Baylor imposes it on themselves or the NCAA does it, they need to shut the program down.
