Quality Is Job 1
Would Marquette look at the possibility of having few midwest teams in the conference and say no? Personally, I doubt it. The travel in Conference USA might be worse now. Should this scenario happen, it would demonstrate that C-USA is not in very good stead at the negotiating table. Also, it would make the Big East even more villianous to C-USA than the ACC was to it. I definitely prefer the idea that the Big East, C-USA, and the Atlantic 10 are in talks of mergers that would be to the benefit of all the teams in their leagues. If the NYP scenario occurs, 11 C-USA teams get knocked down a tier in basketball, if not all sports.
tseugnekillib
Thankfully, Lenn Robbins is a sportswriter and not an experienced D-1 athletic director or a conference commissioner. Personally, I think SLU has a lot of pluses when picking Midwestern and Eastern universities for an all sports conference.
