thetorch Posted October 18, 2003 Posted October 18, 2003 Uh yeah, but many easterers and westerners have a bias towards the midwest. I am sure that this GW guy probably cannot fathom that a school out in the boonies could have as hig of acedemic standards as his prestigious east coast school. Quote
BLIKNS Posted October 18, 2003 Posted October 18, 2003 I think that you second option would look pretty good. Quote
Quality Is Job 1 Posted October 18, 2003 Posted October 18, 2003 That's former d-1, not "d-1 recruit." Quote
former_d1 Posted October 18, 2003 Posted October 18, 2003 Being in a small market has sealed tech's fate of going back to the sun belt and I would think a few years from now going 1aa in football. I could just cry. I read on the latechbbb.com board that we have a top 25 recruiting class in basketball. That will be the last one if we are going back to the sunbelt, a one bid conference. Quote
RS Posted October 18, 2003 Posted October 18, 2003 >If Trach gets what he wants, then why hasn't GW been a good >basketball team in five years? Trach is a strong believer in the importance of a university's sports success in helping it's national visibility and recognition. He hired Tom Penders at GW after Penders and U. of Texas parted ways 6 years ago and paid him over $500K a year. Unfotunately, other than in Penders first year when GW made it to the NCAA's, it didn't pan out and Carl Hobbs was hired to start over and he has had two very strong back to back recruiting classes. GW's women's team has consistantly been one of the top programs in the country. Quote
pooch1918 Posted October 19, 2003 Posted October 19, 2003 SLU would be SOOOOOOO lucky to be grouped with academic powerhouses like Zoo-Mass and URI...please...honestly, that does frighten me that he would know so little about SLU...and make a dumb ass remark like that...has me wondering? are they really looking at SLU?
