"Basically, why should SLU offer the kid if he's not seriously going to consider SLU?"

I can see where this might be beneficial in a limited case by case basis. What this does is increase your presense in the reports about these athletes. Every time Tyus would be mentioned, it would include "has scholarship offers from, Saint Louis, Texas, etc" The more name recognition you can gain for the program the better. I'm not saying do this with everybody, but if you do it for a guy like Tyus it will add that name recognition.

The other segment tothis thread, offering more scholarships than you actually have. I'm torn. To me it seems a little disingenuous to offer something that you may not actually have at the end of the day. These recruits are all involved with several other schools recruiting scenarios. You would hate to have offered someone something and then not be able to come through, how bad would the program look if you had to reject a guy because you offered too many schollys?

On the other hand, when colleges admit the general population of students, the admit more than they plan on actually accepting the offer.

Like I said, i'm torn b/c the "backup" offers at slu have left much to be desired.

>The majority of the top impact pf's are rangy guys between 6'7 and 6'9 and between 200 >and 225 pounds. Athleticism is something that SLU is sorely lacking, particularly in the

And the kid you have been hyping forever, Powell, is probably 6-5 and 175 pounds.

That's why I've been saying he needs to get bigger and stronger to fit into that mold. Tyus is bigger and stronger than Powell.

He was 6'6 last year. He's about 6'6 2/3.
