WUH Posted November 10 Posted November 10 Thanks for having Earl Austin Jr on. I could not agree more with the notion of emphasizing the Missouri and regional opponents on the schedule. More Southeast Missouri and UMKC Less New Hampshire and Central Michigan billikenfan05, billikenbill, Lord Elrond and 2 others 5 Quote

I wonder if SLU gets a "discount" for buy games against regional teams. A school bussing 20+ players, coaches & staff from somewhere within a 4-5 hours of St Louis has to be significantly cheaper than a school flying 20+ from outside the area. If the buy team pays, a school like SEMO could take a bit less from SLU for a buy game and end up netting more than if they have to travel somewhere outside the area. Playing SEMO or UMKC doesn't excite me that much more than playing Bethune Cookman or New Hampshire. If SLU can get SEMO / UMKC for a bit cheaper, they should do it every time. WUH 1 Quote

I know that SLU has, at times, had deals with Cavallo Bus Lines and JED limousines which would bus the teams to regional matchups or to the airport in exchange for advertising space and maybe some cash depending on how big of a sponsorship. In the MASL, Official Hotel would usually provide accommodations for road teams free or at a discount rate in exchange for sponsorship. WUH 1 Quote
