Lord Elrond Posted August 6 Posted August 6 Listening to you mention on the podcast that Xavier is looking at a 17% decline in enrollment has made me very worried about what the SLU enrollment for this fall will be.
WUH Posted August 6 Posted August 6 Listening to you mention on the podcast that Xavier is looking at a 17% decline in enrollment has made me very worried about what the SLU enrollment for this fall will be. SLU may experience a decline, but nothing approaching a 17% decline or we would know by now.
Lord Elrond Posted August 6 Posted August 6 SLU may experience a decline, but nothing approaching a 17% decline or we would know by now. One hopes you are correct. Still, it’s not like the trends point to this getting better anytime soon WUH 1

Xavier and some other smaller Big East schools lacking a huge endowment will be facing some very hard choices soon.! Same is true for several A10 schools. I know some people had issues with Fred, but he left the institution in as good a position as possible to ride the coming storm out. The currently over $2 billion endowment is a nice insurance policy to have at a time like the one universities are headed into. AGB91, TheChosenOne, gabriel and 5 others 8

But all schools, save for the ivies and other top 50 or so are going to be facing enrollment problems. Time for colleges to think outside the box in their course offerings. AI is going to slam opportunities in many traditional fields of endeavor. It’s a bit scary to think about it. brianstl 1

Candidly, I have found it best for myself to not think about it! brianstl and Billiken Rich 2

Plus, there are now a lot more obstacles to access for foreign and working class students. brianstl 1
Pistol Posted August 7 Posted August 7 Javon Pickett, man. I feel like I'm good for one complete brain fog per episode now, but normally Zac can figure it out.
dlarry Posted August 7 Posted August 7 do you want antisemites at SLU? If they can knock down contested 3's, dunk over trash cans, and play lock down defense....I'm OK with it. WUH, RollBills82 and JMM28 2 1
Band Legend Posted August 8 Posted August 8 Javon Pickett, man. I feel like I'm good for one complete brain fog per episode now, but normally Zac can figure it out. You guys were a little foggy about German grocery stores as well-ever hear of the Aldi Brothers? Seriously, I love the podcast- keep up the great work! WUH, BrettJollyComedyHour and Pistol 3
ACE Posted August 8 Posted August 8 It's disappointing that Crewsorlose's post was removed because one overly sensitive poster got bent out of shape and called for it to be deleted. The post by Crews was fact based, perfectly reasonable and relevant to the topic. There are numerous factors contributing to the decline in college enrollment and the fact there are an estimated 150,000 fewer foreign students this year as a result of a government policy is one of them, and it should be perfectly fair to mention that. These issues will start to have real world impacts on college athletics - which is what we're on this board to talk about. Old guy, willie, HenryB and 2 others 4 1

The risk is not worth the reward. AGB91 and billiken_roy 2
dennis_w Posted August 8 Posted August 8 The the post deleted was because one poster called another a pedophile I think politics was secondary
ACE Posted August 8 Posted August 8 That post and others absolutely should have been deleted- the one by Crews should not have been removed because one person whined about it. HenryB 1

The person who called someone a pedophile and who referred to an unnamed individual as a “fat orange blob”should have been suspended… I’m sure you agree with that, right? billikenbill 1
SLU_Lax Posted August 9 Posted August 9 Bunch of fuokin children. Hopefully Steve wipes this out too and we can try again. This is pathetic.
