billikentakes Posted May 30 Posted May 30 It looks like he originally committed to Iowa before decommitting, this seems like a really nice pickup based on the eye test at least Quote
ACE Posted May 30 Posted May 30 I’ve previously said we needed one more big on the roster- some disagreed - glad Schertz agreed with me MusicCityBilliken and Aquinas 2 Quote
Aquinas Posted May 30 Posted May 30 I love this addition. Avila is our only veteran player over 6'8". Now we have 2, 6'10" freshmen, hopefully at least one of them will be able to be productive when they get on the floor. That was a problem last year. They are both skinny, stretch the floor, had 10 pts and 5 RB, last season. These are guys growing into their bodies. Hope they get on campus soon, find the food, the weight room and learn the system. Good job by the coaching staff! Quote

Good job by the coaching staff! Paul plays like 6’10 fwiw. I feel pretty good about him backing up Robbie next year. At the very least, he plays bigger than Anya and Anya was close* to being a solid backup. Bills By 40 1 Quote
WVBilliken Posted May 31 Posted May 31 This article says he signed with Iowa in the Fall signing period then decommitted due to coaching change. Iowa heralded him as a top 100 recruit. https://hawkeyesports.com/news/2024/11/18/iowa-signs-top-100-recruit-badara-diakite https://iowa.rivals.com/news/2025-four-star-forward-badara-diakite-decommits?guccounter=1&guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbS8&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAAEFSEFF4YpEnRBO9CyAz4y8adCTFftLy3wV3-svSS1s0KR9-_hJfW541Q-sU5Pol-J1G6m2iPnTPsLosvJFv-Iwj8WTrCJkLZhwGQTY-6fobC66uCtp-jf1O7n2cAxcZ_kENa7Fh1tEa3bdVKrUj73VQ6DscGFfk3bswMA6iKzKd Quote

WVBilliken Posted May 31 Posted May 31 Interesting thread UConn .... https://the-boneyard.com/threads/badara-diakite-offer.202635/ Another interesting link. Taj79 Posted June 1 Posted June 1 Atlantic 10 Rosters 2025-26 - Google Sheets This site lists him on our roster already. Quote
Taj79 Posted June 1 Posted June 1 This roster looks pretty damn good when compared to all other A10 rosters. If Schertz can gets these guys to implement his offense, we might be pretty good. The issue to me is development. Diakite and Kerr are freshmen. Past SLU history for foreign bigs is not good. Diarra. Cisse. Traore. Magassa. Brockhoff. Pikaar. van Bussel. Loe and Ellis were rare exceptions and that was under Majerus. The last foreigner that amounted to much was Vouyoukous. Aquinas 1 Quote

I was gonna say it could be an error, but then I noticed he's also listed as a junior. Still could be errors I guess. Can't find anything about him signing anywhere else. He'd be a good catch even for a P6 school. Quote

Just found this though: https://www.instagram.com/p/DIhMdgCxd5I/?hl=en Swope entered the portal with the hope that the NCAA would allow players with D2 years additional eligibility. There are a number of players who entered the portal with this situation. Swope played one year at S. Indiana while they were D2, two years at ISU and then his senior year at SLU. Quote
White Pelican Posted June 1 Posted June 1 I'm lost with all this free agency now. How did he get another year? I'm too lazy to do the math, was he owed a Covid year? If no one wants him, I'll welcome him back. Just read Hoosier's explanation. So could we get him back then? Quote
Aquinas Posted June 1 Posted June 1 My understanding is, that it will take a favorable court decision to grant him eligibility for this season. Currently I believe all of our scholarships are spoken for. I think Swope was amazing producive for a guy who couldn't practice in the second half of the season. However the limited practice time of Avila and Swope, hurt the development and cohesion of the team last year. Quote
