Not what I'm doing.  I'm saying get your own cheer.

Hot take alert,  Sweet Caroline is a Red Sox thing. Also unoriginal.

Concerning Trey, I noticed from early December he did not play. Was he on the DL or Miller's dog house?

Brown looks pretty good, he should contribute.

I know that the market is not a  topic of interest to the vast majority of this board. I also know that a few of the posters in this board have begun to realize that NILs depend on donor's will to use their money for this purpose. Believe it or not this recognition is a great advance. Yes, the NILs supply is not infinite, some may even understand that even the powerhouse schools may have a limit for NILs.

That said, today April 3, 2025 marked the largest single day losses in the market since 2020. The Dow was down -1566.10 . You (plural you) can interpret this anyway you wish, to me, this is not good news for abundant NIL availability. Please remember the phrase "dead cat bounce" as something you need to rule out the next bounce up.

Schertz isn't going to play the frosh 10 minutes/game. He wants a super tight rotation even for a team with no hope of the NCAA tourney. Next year he'll prefer to play Anya 34 mpg than let any of the underclassmen develop. I see no path forward if he doesn't change his thinking on playing time.

I no longer have confidence in the prevailing status of college basketball to "develop" players.   With free agency in full mode if you don't play them and they have talent it seems too many will move on.   The opposite also appears to be true.   You don't play them and they think they should have played more they will move on more times than not.

Green looks to have some serious upside if his "health situation" was fully vetted by staff as @HoosierPal stated.  I'm not sure on Brown.  He played VCU last season, lost by 25 pts, and shot 30% from the field.  We already have plenty of that over here...

I don't either.  But injuries happen.  Players get exposed during conference play. That's how McCottry got into the rotation as a freshman.  Now we're talking about him as one of our core players when practically no one was talking like that when we signed him.

Kerr or Pikaar have to be ready when the opportunity presents itself.

Roy,

As far as I know, none of the asst coaches have left.
Plus, we have the luxury of a HC with a well thought out system to maximize the talents of his players.

There will be development of these players. He’s already said Pikaar gained 15 lbs during the season and wants him to gain another 10 or so.

He allowed McCottrey to develop early in the season til he had confidence in him at crunch time.

Yes, it’s not like before, but I have confidence in his magic. I’ve never heard a coach talk like him before. Even Romar’s gift with words cant compare to HCJS’s message.

I can’t wait to see what we have next year.

Take a deep breath until October is my advice. We don’t know squat about what the product is going to look like until then.

Agree. I have question marks on some of these players. Wait until they lace them up in the fall and see how they mesh within the system.

On transfers even after being observed in practice, I offer the warning, Beware the Vashon Newborne Syndrome. Folks who observed him at practice said he was can’t miss. Sadly, he didn’t even know where the target was.

Newborne was a two-star recruit out of high school who averaged 11 points a game at juco.  The fact that he excelled in practice tells you a lot about where our talent level was back then.

I've never liked it, either. The story goes the band played it after a win once and the AD liked it so much that they basically won't allow us to play anything else after a win. It's a "tradition."

And now Brown is social media official:

If that chain and Billiken pendant are as heavy as it looks and he wears it while playing, he could cause serious injuries with it. If he wears it he should tape the Billiken pendant to his chest before playing to prevent injuries to other players.

I swear, I can't tell if we're being trolled or not...

Honestly, try to estimate the weight of that pendant plus the chain in Stainless steel, silver, and  white gold. It is not a light weight thing any way you look at it. The Billiken pendant  has pointy ears, pointy cheeks, and a pointy chin. That thing swinging around during play can easily take someone's eye off. Look at the quote from Venice Menace below.
