Just think of it as 15 jerseys. That’s all you can have on the bench/roster.

I saw today that a challenge was recently filed against the proposed 15 man roster limit because it is an illegal restraint of trade.  At least I think that was the reason.  I will try to find where I saw it.

So wouldn’t that affect just about every biz in America, ie those who run businesses cannot determine the size of their workforce?

All professional sports have roster limits. Why shouldn’t professional college sports have roster limits?

Professional leagues have collective bargaining agreements with actual employees.

Business do not set arbitrary work force sizes.  They determine what the company needs and it can fluctuate with each business being different.

It was actually that enforcing the limit amounts to an illegal cartel agreements.

I put together a summary description of the players and position projections of the players currently committed to the 2025 Billikens: 12 of the 15 scholarships.
For the last 3 scholarships:

1       We need a center as the only player over 6’8”, other than Robbie is freshman Max Kerr.

2       We need a ball handler. Right now, our ball handlers are Amari McCottry and Trey Green. Green has a high ceiling, but has played limited minutes and had mysterious health issue last year and only played in the first 9 games.  

3       Schertz Wild Card – last year’s wild card was Dylan Warlick, who made significant contributions.

Centers:
Robbie Avila 6’10”240 Jr, Center, 33.9 Min, 17.3 Pts, 6.9 RB, 3Pt% 35.9, FT% 75

Power Forwards:
Paul Otieno 6’8” 225, Sr Forward, 31.1 Min, 10.4 Pts, 8.6 RB, 37.5 3Pt%, FT% 81.1 from Quinnipiac
Kalu Anya 6’8” 215, JR, Forward, 27.9 Min, 6.5 Pts, 7.5 RB, 3Pt% 125, FT% 31.6

Amari McCottry 6’6” 215, FR, Guard Wing, 14.5 Min, 4.6 Pts, 3.1 RB, 3pt% 38.5  FT% 58.7. Can play any guard position or small power forward in a pinch.
Trey Green  6’0”  168, Jr, Guard, 13 Min, .5.5 Pts, 1RB, 3 Pt% 33, FT% 96.3 from Xavier . Only played 9 games beginning of last year. Had undefined health issue. Ranked about 70 out of high school. Stats from combined first 2 years. He is a gable with very high ceiling.  

Freshman: All 3 have reputations as outside shooters. Hutson might be the closest to div 1 play. Max might be needed as we only have 1 player over 6’8” at this moment.
Jax Ker 6'11' 190, 247 4 star recruit from Oklahoma last summer averaged 11.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.8 blocks. He shot better than 40 percent from the arc
Cameron Hutson 6’6” 190 , 247 3*, 18.9 Pts, 7.2 RB, 45% 3pt
Luke Laczkowski 6’7” 200, 247 3*, 21.5 Pts, 8.5 RB, 2000 points for his high school. Considers himself shooting guard. Nickname Lach. Couldn’t find percentages.

It's all the same legal theory--horizontal restraint of trade/illegal cartels are all prohibited under Section 1 of the Sherman Act, which is the primary antitrust law in the US. Individual businesses can set whatever employee numbers they want, but it is illegal for competing businesses to agree upon a limit together. Effectively, the D1 colleges are competing businesses.  If the players form a collective bargaining unit and agree upon a limit with the NCAA/schools, it is no longer an illegal restraint of trade. This is why major sports leagues legally have roster rules and salary caps.

Agree Hutson is likely the most ready coming in, but I’d say Luke is right there also. Jax is very much like Robbie other than body type, you can see why the staff wanted him. Hes a center who gets the other 4 heavily involved.

I couldn't find much video of Luke. He did an i terrier after the high school season where he described himself as 6'7".  The little video made him look like a spot up 3 it shooter. Stats show him as 21 pt per game, so he must alsi have insude game. . He also played tennis, so he must have decent quickness and body control. I just don't have a sense of his readiness in terms of speed and strength. 

My overall exptations of this group of freshmen is that they will hit open 3s, when they get a chance to play.

@studurando · 1h With the dead period ending tomorrow, SLU will have several players from the portal on campus in the next week. The focus is still on guards with playmaking, shooting skills, speed, defensive versatility.

Kerr not backing up Robbie would be extremely disappointing. I don't know how many minutes, but Robbie doesn't need to be playing 40 minutes.
