2025 SLU Softball

Not surprisingly SLU is one of the last schools to release their schedule.   Here is what I have so far:

 

Feb 28 - Mar 2 - @ the Kennesaw State Tournament featuring KSU, St. Johns, Rider and East Tennessee State

Mar 12 @ Western Illinois

Mar 19 vs Lindenwood

Mar 26 vs SIUe

Apr 2 @ SIUe

Apr 12-13 at Rhode Island

Apr 18-19 vs George Mason

Apr 23 at Lindenwood

Apr 26-27 vs St Bonaventure

 

The good news for both of our spring teams, neither will have to make that trip to Olean this year.

Softball schedule is out.    Wow - they are opening the season in Hawaii!    With baseball going to LA and the Bay Area in non-conference, it doesn't appear the spring teams are under much of a budget crunch this season.

I am going to go up to Kennesaw to see SB in March.

Opening day for softball in Hawaii.   Unfortunately it doesn't look like UH will be streaming any games from that tournament.   Their press notes say that we are in the Summit League which made me throw up in my mouth a little.    Stu dropped an article today on the Billikens pitching depth, which was probably a better article than anything that has ever been written about the team in the PD.   Its pretty cool that we have a really good independent  journalist dedicated to our athletic department.   Im happy to give him my support.

It was a great article. Obviously the problem Stu had when he was with the PD was that he had editors there who decided what he wrote and how much space he could have on each day. Now that he’s free of that…

By the way, my new favorite name for a Billiken player is now Scout Gallagher.

They stranded 15 runners and including the bases loaded 3 times.  Yikes.    They play Santa Clara and host Hawaii today.

SLU's weekend tournament in Evansville was also cancelled due to weather.   They are playing a neutral doubleheader today against Evansville in some kind of dome facility in Peoria that starts in a little over an hour.    I'm sure we are working on funding our future campus softball dome as we speak

Peoria has a dome???  Maybe it’s one of those inflatable things?

Yes it is the Louisville Slugger Dome, one of my boys played there the last couple of years.  Just big enough for 10-11U baseball but perfect for softball.

They have a full bar with TVs you can watch the game and enjoy a really good bloody mary at the 8 am starts.

Good lord.  SLU takes a 2-0 lead on 5 walks, 3 wild pitches and an error.   If I were there I might be partaking on one of those morning mimosas.

This is impressive. They haven't been a big hitting team in recent seasons. Everyone except Anna Christ - who is now pitching - has 1 hit.

Evansville has 1 hit. Taylor Hochman pitched the first 3 and now Christ is on the mound. She's got DH/RP duties today.

SLU won 12-2 in game 1 but the script has flipped in game 2, down 7-0 in the fourth.

Yeah, Izzy Royle had a fantastic freshman season but she has really struggled this year.  She is about to take her 4th loss already.

Nope.  Dropped 2 winnable games today.   That makes 3 in a row after that disastrous 7th inning in St. Charles.   2 more chances tomorrow.

SLU sb got absolutely annihilated in their home opener yesterday against a pretty good SD State and fell behind 4-0 to a pretty bad Western Illinois team in Macomb today   They have just added 5 runs to take the lead.   Really NEED to hang on and win today!
