Cheap production. They probably had to scramble just to get that final highlight reel put together during the station break.

They also didn’t have them to be shown on the screens at Chaifetz.  The SID was shorthanded tonite and they aid those Espn+ broadcasts as well.

Given that Avila is the key to the team, has not been practicing and is about 70%, I am good with where we are. Thames has worked his way into the top 5 and is clearly not up to speed. McCottry looks like a very promising  player, but has freshman moments.

In my view get Thames back to full speed and just keep working and improving.

Grawer got to theNIT finals two years in a row. Big deal! All of the teams that declined to go to the NIT would have kicked ISUs ass, just like every decent team they played did.

The above poster is a long time troll on the board - why are some people feeding it?

100 percent.  How is this different than ford? We have a fancy offense?  Still can't guard anyone.    Got beyond lucky tonight...TWICE.

While blowing a 20+ point lead is very concerning I don’t consider the CORRECT calls being made luck.

Correct - that 3 pt that turned out to be a 2 happens all the time.  SOP for the refs to double check something like that especially with a time out being taken.  Also, the 3 point shot at the end clearly was after time had run out.  With 1.4 seconds left, they tried to make two passes before getting the shot off - they simply were going to run out of time so the defense we had set up did work.  Where I sit we had a perfect view of the play.  The red light was on before he shot and everybody around us clearly saw it from their comments.  The fact that the refs overturned it so quickly shows that it clearly was after the time had run out.  Luck had nothing to do with it.  Now there was other things if you want to criticize but not those two calls.  Does anyone really think Ford would have brought these players in- the cupboard was not very full.  He had lost the confidence of the money people and he would have been offering players a bag of White Castles to come.  No, we are better off by a bunch - now will Schertz be successful who knows but staying with Ford was going to be a disaster.

LOL! Not a troll, just a long time fan that was excited about the Shertz hire, and then very happy to see him bring along Avila and Swope. Also happy to see Jimerson stay, and impressed with the cast of players assembled to support these three stars. At the beginning of the season I was very optimistic, and had high hopes for an at-large bid. Jimerson likely felt the same way. Early on, I'm disappointed to see the team lose to 2-4 Santa Clara, and then get destroyed by Wichita State. Watching the team blow a 21 pt lead in the second half, and then just barely hang on to beat U-Mass Lowell (who?) was depressing. From my point of view the problem is team defense, and that's on Shertz. I fear that when coach watches the game tape he'll be looking for ways the Bills could have scored more points instead of looking for ways they could have defended better and kept Umass from scoring.

Moving forward I still hold out hope that the Billikens can get it together The A-10 is better this year. Dayton, for sure, and maybe VCU or Rhode Island could be Quad1 teams. Plus, we still have SFU and Grand Canyon to play. An at large bid is still possible. But, to do it, the Bills are going to have to play better defense. They better get their act together fast, though. This is the NIL era, and like the great Dick Allen said, "The future is now!"

Dick Allen once played for the Cardinals and famously said, "If a horse won't eat it, I don't want to play on it."

Yeah, I know now that the game was strictly an espn+ endeavor and not "borrowed" from Bally or whatever they call it now. I rarely miss a home game but l couldn't make it last night.

I fast forwarded after the game was over and the foot on the line was probable from the original view. The shot after the clock ran out was much more obvious.

The interesting thing to me was I paused the playback at the moment the red light came on in the backboard. Ball was clearly in his hand still but the time (on the TV graphic at least) showed 0.2 seconds left. I assume that was also due to low production values and was not the correct time.

Reminded me of the game years ago at Kiel/Savvis/whatever that we won because the TV time and the actual time were not synced up correctly. The refs reviewed the TV feed of a tip-in by the visitors and got it wrong. Missouri State maybe? Anybody else remember that?

EDIT: Actually, maybe WE tipped it in after the time actually ran out but got the win due to unsynced clock. Can't remember exactly.

I’m also hoping Casey gives us much needed inside depth. There are going to be games where our bench is going to have to produce more than just breather minutes. We need points, boards, and D from them. So far their production leaves a lot to be desired.

Jesus what a bunch of whining B's!  I like to be entertained,  and that game was off the charts entertainment.   If this team continues progressing like I think we will, the rest of this season is gonna be awesome.

If this team figures out how to defend, I don’t think there’s a ceiling, but that’s a HUGE if and a ghost of last season.

At least with the current coach, we have a relatively decent, fun-to-watch offense.  Still missing a defense but I'll take the offense and run with it over the hero ball/weave version any day.  I thought our defense was consistent in that it switched almost automatically whenever a screen was set.  This looked good but Lowell was really unconscious from 3.  So the defense appears the same as last year --- at least we're moving up on the offensive side.

I thought we tanked it during the de facto fourth quarter.  With ten minutes to go in the game, we were up 79 to 61.  An 18-point lead.  We were then outscored 29 to 14 in those final ten minutes.  Avila and Swope were the only guys that scored in those ten minutes.  We quit running; we quit cutting.  We went to a two-man game (looked who did score) and it almost bit us in the arse.  Tired legs?  Anya 32 minutes.  Avila 33.  Swope 36.  Jimerson 38.  Thames MIA.  Hughes buried himself on bench.  This comes after Monday's game where the guys above went for Anya 32, Avila 30, Swope all 40 and Jimerson 33.  They say shooting goes when the legs go.  The legs done gone and went.  The lead followed.

Beside Casey still being out and Thames' cramps and Hughes disappearance, Kobe Johnson needs to do more.  If he is not a scorer but a defender, don 't you sick him on their top dog and shut him down?  How do you do that if every passage of two opponents results in an automatic switch?  You assign him Sommerville and he's not allowed to switch.  Or the second defender takes his chances leaving his man to double Sommerville.  Pick your poison.

The TV production was not the best but it was an A10-produced game.  Our website said the game would be streamed and it was.  Limited announcer.  Limited cameras.  Limited facilities.  But at least we saw it all if not the toe on the line and the expired clock.  I'm happy for that.

A win is a win and I'll take it but again, the goal is getting this team where it needs to be come January.  Fix Casey.  Fix Thames.  Develop McCottry.  Even seven guys won't be enough.

This is a corrected post, he is still in the team, sorry.

I was wondering why Schertz did not bring Brockhoff while we were ahead to give some rest to Jimerson and Swope.

I thought with his size in front of the basket he might have been useful to block some of the 3 pointers that rained on us towards the end of the 2nd half.
