Some schools already releasing their baseball schedules.   (It would be nice if we had a full basketball schedule by now )   Dayton is going to down to Gainesville to play the Univ. of Florida Feb 21-23.   They were very good last year but lost alot of dudes with the coaching change.

His Dad, Matt was an All-American linebacker at Washington University. The Gomric family has produced several very successful athletes from Althoff over the years.

This is semi related being LaSalle is in the A-10.

I was reading an article on the late Pete Rose and learned he had a grandson that played baseball at LaSalle. Wanting to look up his stats I googled the LaSalle Baseball page and learned the program was dropped in 2021 because of financial issues. Be grateful we are not in that situation.

Now CBC is passing up SLU baseball facilities. How does SLU recruit players from the area when their high school facilities are better than potential colleges? No AD in America is this tone def.

As someone who will likely have 12 straight years of Cadet baseballers I am pretty pumped about this.  They are still a bit away on funding so hopefully the auction goes well.

With the new roster reductions for college baseball in 2025, many teams are making cuts at the semester break.  Two SLU redshirt freshmen have entered the portal according to D1Baseball.    Neither have played a game for us…OF Baden Hackworth and 1B Easton Wasinger.

I assume Hendricks is watching cuts being made by power conferences to see if we can pick up some talent.

SLU is usually about the last Div 1 school to release their schedule.   Based on other teams' releases here is what I know so far:

 

Mar 4 @ Missouri State

Mar 19 - Bradley

April 1 - Western Illinois

April 4-6 - @ George Mason

April 11-13 at Davidson

April 15 - Lindenwood

April 18-20 - Virginia Commonwealth

April 25-27 - @ Richmond

May 6 - Lindenwood

May 13 - @ Western Illinois

May 15-17 - George Washington

May 28-30 - St Bonaventure

The only team in conference I know we will not be playing is Fordham

I thought about that too.   I think Baden is from SE Missouri, Sikeston area, so I dont think so.    I remember coach Hackworth when he was coaching against SLU at South Florida back in the CUSA glory days.

Woerner Field, home of the Dayton Flyers Baseball Team. Woerner Stadium was initially a four million dollar project finished in 2005, with facilities such as a press box, concession stand, and restrooms, and then upgraded in 2017, adding a hitting and pitching facility with team rooms along right field.
 

Anyone thinking what we have at SLU is normal is about 20 years behind the rest of the athletics world. This article is from 2018. Since then Dayton has invested even more money into baseball/stadium. How in of all places like St. Louis , MO can we not have the best in class baseball stadium not just in A10, but Missouri is beyond embarrassing.

Schedule is out.  Two early west coast trips.  No Florida trip    .   We signed several California kids, including McGwire, which could possibly the reason for our west coast swings.

Sorry to hear that, but let me know when they start their careers in the trades and I’ll do my best to support them. High school jokes hahaha.

SLU picked to finish 2nd in the conference by D1 Baseball.   RIchmond is picked to win the conference, due to returning most of their starting lineup.   Their pitching is suspect.  Several teams in the conference saw massive roster turnover due to coaching changes.  Dayton and VCU had total roster overhaul.    Unlike last year where we started red hot against some mediocre teams, we are probably going to struggle early but that may help us down to stretch.   Four game set to open the season at St. Mary's starts Friday.

SLU Baseball split a season opening Double Header at St. Mary’s in Moraga, CA, winning Game 1 9-4, losing Game 2 16-1. We will be attending Saturday’s Game 3.
