I’d take $450 as a college kid. I’d buy an Oz in those days

Agree, but the guys selling the most merch on the site are the guys that will be making the most NIL money anyway.  So, yes, $1000, if they can make that on t-shirts, is $1,000.  But if the guy is earning an d $80,000 NIL deal, that $1,000 isn't affecting in any way whether or not he comes here or not and isn't doing all that much for his bottom line.  He already has much more money than other college kids.

There are things that all NCAA Division 1 programs should have. A partnership with an NIL merchandise company like this is one of those things. Think of it like this: SLU having it doesn't move the needle for recruits/current players, if SLU didn't have this it would move the needle negatively. It does move the needle for fans of the program.

I’ve said this before, and I’ll say it again, I’m not at all saying that they shouldn’t have the store or that it’s not something cool for the players. I completely agree with all of that. Only saying it’s not some huge game changer like some people are making it out to be. It will be a small blip to the bank accounts for some of the players. Does it mean we shouldn’t have it though.

Why are we crapping on the stuff that is meant to put a little money in the pockets of Billiken athletes?  We aren't going to get stuff limited quantity stuff like this put together by Nike's design teams.  That stuff would have to sell at such a high price to cover production costs, that no one would buy it and the players wouldn't get crap.

Because complacency and mediocrity got together and had a baby called cynicism. And it has suckled at the teet of our dear Alma Mater for a long time. I think the concepts are great - but I’m old enough to remember kids on this campus literally weeping about Nike products coming to the bookstore and them shutting that down over their use of child labor in Asia. We just cannot have nice things.

Are people saying it’s a game changer? Are people saying players are going to make bank? Fans are excited for the opportunity to buy and support their favorite Billikens. In that vein (vain?), I think people are excited for themselves and are viewing it as a brand new avenue to show their love for SLU and the Billikens.

I’m going to buy some stuff, but was hoping it could be without the names and numbers on the back. Showing my age. I actually wish they would add some “sport specific” apparel that perhaps mirrors some of the stuff the team wears and split that money amongst each team member. Any way you look at it, it’s a good thing.

I think this is something SLU should explore. But I'll tweak it a little bit and say that SLU should set up some sort of profit sharing model on all Billiken merchandise sold in the arena or really anywhere. Say a dollar per item. Like DOC said, would go into a pot shared across all athletics. I don't have great knowledge on how it would work, but it seems like something that would encourage fans to buy and wear more Billiken merch as much as it would be nice publicity and being "ahead of the curve" in sharing income with athletes. I haven't seen anything like this, but that doesn't mean others aren't already doing it.

SLU should also be buying stock of some of these Jerseys and sell them at break even at Chaifetz, Hermann or BillikenSC.
