The Bills over GM by 3

Recommended Posts

Game Outlook...We come into this game still rated B...Mason arrives with a grade of B-.  We have the better team and better offense.  They have the better defense.  Their strategy will be to sloooow things down...a nice low scoring game. This is a 2 player team...Oduro and Polite...they have some other players that are decent...stop these 2 and we win...in GM's last 2 losses Duq held the 2 players to 17pts combined and and lowly Loy held them to 24 pts for 1 of their 4 conference wins. Yes, one of GM's last losses came against 4-14 Loy...hold that thought.

Report Card....

2 categories down( Off &Def 3P%) ....Overall since we last played GM...Our 3P shooting has gotten better and our FT shooting has gotten worse.  We score less pts and give up less pts...A10 chess games.  Meanwhile, GM 's offense has gone down and their defense has gone up.  And while their defense is good,  it is no where near Dayton's D. The highlight of the GM  D  is their 3P defense. The one we burned last time with a 39% from the arc. If we play our game ...we win.

Let's look at the report card...

Keys to the game.... Stop Oduro and Polite...A weak spot for GM is TOs...lets force some...The Bills need to pick up the tempo especially as the game continues...GM is going basically with 6 players ...Oduro played an extra 8 min...Gaines an extra 9 min...Polite an extra 4 min...4 starters played 32-36 min  which can workout sometimes but on the road back to back ...not so much.  The spread could widen as the game proceeds ...if we push them

WWN2D2W...Make the slash...46/35/75...Hold Oduro and Polite to 27 pts combined.....Keep them under 70 pts ...Beat them by 5 TOs and we win...3 extra rebs for the Bills...Hold Odura to 8 rebs...Keep Gaines under 40% from the arc. ...no foul trouble...everybody with 3 fouls or less.

Bottom line...It's show time ...no Mason around...we are not going to Odur o' loss...We need to stop being Polite ...Just win, by George

When was the last time we were +5 on turnover margin in a game?

4 guys played 32+ minutes for them yesterday. We need to out-energize: steals, hard rotations, push the ball, win every loose ball. I'd say if Parker/Hughes/TJ play 40+ minutes and score 15+ points we win. Oduro scores at least 20. He can score 30, just make him work and make it not be efficient. No 3s, no and 1s.

Last time we played Mason ..We had 12 TOs ...they had 17 ...let's do it again.

We're screwed if Okoro and/or Jake doesn't show. Kim English has said multiple times this year they have no problem giving up points in the paint in exchange for closing out the 3 point line.  With playing in big arenas, that first game typically causes issues with shooting from deep.

A sweet win...this is what Billiken basketball looks like when they play a full  40 min. of offense and defense. A tip o' the cap to Ford.

Let's see what happened. Bolded statements from original post.

The Bills need to pick up the tempo especially as the game continues...GM is going basically with 6 players ...Oduro played an extra 8 min...Gaines an extra 9 min...Polite an extra 4 min...4 starters played 32-36 min  which can workout sometimes but on the road back to back ...not so much.  The spread could widen as the game proceeds ...if we push them....We did push them and we did play up tempo and we did wear them down...In the 1st half the game was tied 25-25...we outscored them after that 57-29. ...great effort with no let up.

Hold Oduro and Polite to 27 pts combined...Direct hit...27 pts is what they had

A weak spot for GM is TOs...lets force some... Beat them by 5 TOs and we win...Another hit...Many thought that this was not possible as the Bills have been terrible about forcing TOs all season....we win this category by 6...excellent.

Hold Oduro to 8 rebs....Bingo..82nd ITN coming into this game ...we hold him to 3

3 extra rebs for the Bills...let's double that and make it 6...double the fun

Keep them under 70 pts...and did we...54pts

Keep Gaines under 40% from the arc...25%...stopped

no foul trouble...everybody with 3 fouls or less...this was close enough .Okoro had 4 fouls ...but no harm no foul...by the time he drew that foul , he was headed to the bench anyway because of the blowout.

Make the slash...46/35/75...This one was close enough...56/33/77....Missed it by one 3PM...and more than made up for it with an onslaught of 2s.  BTW speaking of slashes... let's look at the GM slash...37/22/63...a tip o' the cap to the defense.

Bottom line...There was no Mason around...as the Bills make a statement.. They telegraphed that message in the opening moments of the game on one of Oduro's first touches....He was under such heavy pressure, he literally fell out of bounds.

If the Bills can continue to play like this, and there is no reason they can't or shouldn't,  we win the next 2 games....Mason was the hottest team in the A10 coming into the tourney...We stopped them cold.

Now playing Bills ball...Let's keep it going.
