im so sorry i continue to call them the lady billikens if that offends you.  and your opinion of julia is rightfully yours.   good for you.  i suggest you skip over my posts concerning my thoughts on the lady billikens here forward.   better for your mental health probably.

I wasn’t stating any opinions. Julia Martinez was quite literally an All A10 player for most of the conference season. Your opinion on her shot doesn’t really matter. What matters is her conference numbers:

38%, 35%, 70%

1.38 assist per turnover

58 steals

Including a triple double in the championship game.

I will say it’s impressive that you found a reason to complain about an A10 championship. Congrats I guess.

i do call them the "mighty ducks".   i also call Tampa Bay the "Devil Rays" and Cleveland "the Indians".   i admit to being the most politically incorrect fan in the world.   my right.

It's not politically incorrect, it's just incorrect. They're literally not called that and haven't been for a long time. Refusing to call them by their actual name makes you seem condescending. Not sure what they can do to earn your respect at this point.

Just to add onto this with numbers to further show how right @billikenfan05 is about Julia:

Julia Martinez last two games of the A10 tournament

Points: (15+17)/2 = 16 ave

Rebounds: (9+13)/2 = 11 ave

Assists: (8+12)/2 = 10 ave

She averaged a triple-double over a two game stretch in the conference semi-final and conference final, the 2 biggest games of the year, against the #1 and #2 teams in the conference. Big time players come up big when it counts.

On some level I get this, but also people in St. Louis still call it "Highway 40" instead of 64, "Riverport" instead of whatever the Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre, "Kiel Center" instead of Enterprise Center, "Poplar Street Bridge" instead of Congressman William L. Clay Sr. Bridge, "St Johns" instead of Mercy,  etc.  I don't think there is anything condescending when people use those old names.  If Roy says he's not using old / incorrect names to be condescending, you've got to take him at his word.

It's also part of getting old.......Highway 40, Shaw's Garden, calling a new song release a record or an album and a hundred other things.  I honestly had no idea the Rays weren't the Devil Rays or any idea what the what the Cleveland team is called now.

I think a lot of us MBM get into trouble putting WBB stats into the context of WBB rather than MBB.  I'm often guilty of it myself.

I'm not 100% sure, but I'm fairly certain that the overall FG% and 3pt FG% in WBB are lower than MBB.  You can't look at Martinez shooting %s (or McMakin's for that matter) and judge them based on your understanding of MBB.

I hope Jordan Goodwin has a lot of success playing for the Bullets next season.  Also, I heard the St. Louis Browns may have a surprisingly good season in the AL East.

Gotta watch out for those Brooklyn Dodgers (the team that made Bob Dole seem way older than he was...)

The bold is about the only one that holds a comparison IMO. The rest are inanimate objects named for corporations. I'll give you Clay Bridge given that it's named after a human being. Also St. John has been dead long enough that I don't give a sh*t. HA

If it means anything, a number of years ago the Athletic Department asked that when I post things to the Billikens.com front page, I do not use the term Lady Billikens.

They just had media availability. Nothing major, but a few items:

Tillett said she's situational when it comes to fouling up 3 with under 7 seconds to play. She's aware of studies that say to foul every time but she decided to let it play out this time. She said they all did a great job of keeping their composure after Taylor's shot went in.

She's big on their mindfulness exercises. In a champ week with short prep times, they actually decided on mindfulness over breaking down more plays in the scout. One of the players also said that in a chaotic timeout, she told everyone to stop and breathe. It all paid off.

Tillett thought the Wichita State game was a turning point, saying they learned more about who they were in that game. Martinez cited the Fordham game. Regardless, they all agreed this was the result of steady progress in practice all season and a shared focus on winning.

The players were clearly buzzing from the win still. They couldn't hold back their gigantic grins and were actively trying to suppress laughter.

The thing with fouling or not fouling on that last possession was that it wouldn’t have even sent them to the line, it would have just made them inbound the ball with 3-4 seconds left.

I didn't quite know what to think about the mindfulness activities they've been doing the whole year. There's something to be said for composure in a game with stakes that high. I'll take a team that knows how to manage emotions every day.

Final Women’s power rankings are out, Iowa is #3. For us to face them in the first round would make us a 16 seed, not sure I see that, I’m expecting a 14-15 seed for us. We’ll see next Sunday, things can change.

As long as we don't draw Iowa and aren't a 16 seed, I'll be happy. We need the focus to be on us and not Caitlin Clark. The women deserve their moment in the sun.
