And once again the Bills need to regroup. If you look at the report card you will see a lot of improvement in the defense. Unfortunately, you will also see a drop in offense. If we do both this game , we will win. The 17 We are 2-2 now with 13 to go....We are still favored to win in the remaining 13 games ... It is this stretch of games that will make or break us...the computer says at this time ...it will make us. So for the hand wringers or the gloom and doom fans all is not lost... We need to start bring down our opp pt totals...as in below 70pts. We need to do it more than once....also with some offense this time. Injury /Illness report and misc None Keys to the game ...Make some shots. Especially the bunnies. DeVries is their go to guy...stop him. This is a an above average defense but much less than we faced against Boise. A good time to strengthen our slash. WWN2D2W...45/33/77...just do it...11 TOs...out reb them by 7...Go to guy DeVries...hold him to 14pts....Keep the fouls to a minimum ..this team can shoot FTs...Keep FTM to 10. Bottom line....I know we can walk and chew gum at the same time...Let's play offense AND defense at the same time. Let's not take any Bull from the Dogs...Just win. Not too surprising since Drake Coach DeVries was Ben Jacobson's long time assistant. We need to crash the boards and win the 50/50 battles to win. The Average Path to Greatness....In that thread , I tried to show that the Bills didn't need great shooting to win games ...if they just did their average they would win games. This game was a good example. The Bills average slash is 45/33/77...tonight's game was 43.5/ 33 /91...Had the Bills made 1 more 3 they would have made the slash. But to show you how accurate the numbers are take a look at this...The Bills were one 3 short of the slash BUT made 3 extra FTs balancing out perfectly to make the spread in pts. Play Bills ball and we win. Bolded statements are from the original post Bottom line....I know we can walk and chew gum at the same time...Let's play offense AND defense at the same time... When we lose , we either play offense or defense ...not both. With 10 min left in the game we started to walk and chew gum at the same time (offense and defense) and we came from behind and won. We should be able to control this game on the boards and the tempo.... out reb them by 7. ,Out rebounded them by 13...great effort...and we controlled the tempo when we played D. Make some shots. Especially the bunnies..... Okoro 4-5...80%...Perkins 3-7...42% from 3 ...excellent ...Team FT% ...91% Go to guy DeVries...hold him to 14pts... He scored 15...close enough ...very good. Keep FTM to 10...They made 12...again close enough....good 11 TOs.... This one needs some explaining... 1st, we only turned it over only 7 times which is excellent...unfortunately they only turned it over 6 times which is outstanding...but things aren't what they appear to be.. This was a game of 2 different halves....In the 1st half Drake had no TOs as in ZERO. Drake usually turns it over about 12 times a game. How could they have ZERO in a half ...because we had ZERO pressure on them. Once we applied pressure on them in the 2nd half they not only turned the ball over their normal 6 times but the rest of their game fell apart. Want to beat them by 30 like Richmond ...pressure them for 40 mins...the Dogs turned the ball over 13 times in that game.
