The YAWN...Yuri Assist Watch Now

Recommended Posts

Welcome to The "YAWN"  known as the sleepy time thread. It stands for Yuri Assist Watch Now. This thread is to commemorate Yuri entrance into one of College Basketball's  most exclusive clubs...The Top 250 Players of all time in Assists in D1.  He did this during the Providence game and currently has 603 assists and is now ranked 245th. He is currently on pace to break the all time college assist record of 1076 set by Bobby Hurley at Duke in 1993.  This assumes he stays healthy and he comes back next year.

After every game that Yuri records an assist , I will report the latest total and ranking along with some highlights of players he has tied or passed.

Here are today's numbers...

Rank...245th...# 603

Passed

Xavier Johnson... #602... Indiana...still playing

Tony Bennett...# 601... Green Bay...1989-1992

Tied

Terry Giles...Fla. A&M...1987-1990

Jake Odum...Ind St...2011-2014

Here are the current numbers...

Rank  #159....647 assists

Yuri makes a huge jump ...42 places

Tied with...

Casey Rogers ...West Carolina...1999-2002

There are 2 other active players besides Lofton on the list both in their last year of eligibility

Jalen Pickett...Penn St....12 ahead of Yuri

Cameron Parker...Portland St....23 ahead

I started this list 8 days ago.  In that time, Yuri has climbed nearly 100 spots in the ranking and has accumulated over 50 assists. An amazing rise in such a short time.

Keep it going Yuri.

Granted the games against Paul Quinn, Harris Stowe (last season), and Maryville (his 1st year) all count for the Billikens records, but in terms of chasing the Hurley 1076 mark, are the 32 assists he racked up against non D1 teams going to count?

Even if they don't, he can make them up in 2 or 3 games lol

They do count.  Games are either countable (as determined by the NCAA...there is a list of countable teams made up by the NCAA)...or not countable which are marked on the schedule as exhibition....the Quinn and Stowe assists count toward the record.
