opening week of college basketball is BAD this year.  That said, GMU and auburn is kinda intriguing

Now that you mention it, looks like we have one of the more interesting/meaningful match-ups in all of D1 basketball today, even without a whole lot expected from the Racers this years.

Was thinking the same thing when I looked earlier today.

Although, that Lindenwood at Dayton game could be a real barn-burner. Just kidding.

Everyone won except for La Salle (v. Villanova) and GMU (v. Auburn), which were expected,. and Rhody losing to Quinnipiac. Also, Loyola needed OT to beat Fairleigh Dickinson after going in as a -26.5.

In the spreads, La Salle,  Saint Louis, Umass, the Bonnies (barely by .5 points) and Fordham all covered; Dayton, Mason, Rhode Island, VCU, Richmond, and Loyola did not.

How bad is Montana?  The Griz lost at Duqesne Tuesday night by 28.  Dae Dae Grant, transfer from Miami of Ohio, didn't miss a shot going 8 of 8 from the floor, 6 of 6 from three and 3 of 3 from the line.  Bolwing Green transfer and native St. Louisan Joe Reece went for 12 and freshman Matus Hronsky went for 13 as well.  This win snapped a 17-game losing streak for the Dukes going back to January 8 of last season.

St. Joe's will be the last A10 team to open, playing #3 Houston at Annapolis on Friday.

Tonight, Davidson (-4.5) is at Wright State at ^;00 pm CST on ESPN+.  Tomorrow, Umass (+1) hosts Towson.  On Friday, in addition to St. Joe's, Duquesne goes to kentucky, George Washington host cross-town foe Howard, Dayton hosts SMU, Richmond hosts Northern Iowa, Mason welcomes Longwood, Fordham goes to #10 Arkansas and Loyola goes to UIC.  Lines for Friday aren't up yet.

Montana isn't that bad.  They were 18-14 in the Big Sky last year and were preseason picked to finish 3rd in their league with four returning starters including 2 of 3 top-scorers from last season. Duquesne brought in a bunch of portal transfers plus they have this 6-8 freshman from Slovakia who shows a lot of promise.
