Duff Man Posted February 9 Posted February 9 obviously Hughes had a longer career and played alongside Iverson, MJ, and LeBron but it's very cool that Goodwin will add LeBron and Luka to his list of teammates that already includes Durant, Booker, Beal, Porzingis and an injured Ja Morant. The Lakers have roster problems as thetorch mentioned above due to their deadline replacement big for Anthony Davis failing a physical, but ultimately Goodwin has made the most of his opportunity. He put in his time in the G-League, and when the opportunity came, he scored 10 points (all in the 4th quarter) with 2 All-Time NBA greats cheering from the bench in street clothes. Regardless if he gets converted into a full contract and/or makes the postseason roster, he does have at least a limited bench role on a roster that is lacking in what he brings to the table. Now if he can just patent the banked in 3 pointer, and botched alley oop pass to himself off the glass... Quote

At one point, LeBron was giving JGood what looked like on court instructions, a teaching moment. The LA Lakers (32-19) won over the hapless Utah Jazz (12-40) in a rout, 132-113, at crypto.com Arena in LA and on ESPN with Dave Pasch (Arizona Cardinals announcer) on play by play. Cowboy II Posted February 11 Posted February 11 -from NBA Analysis.com LA Lakers head coach JJ Redick was asked about Jordan Goodwin in his post-game press conference following the 132-113 victory. Redick paid tribute to the Lakers’ development system, adding: “I think it’s been seamless for Jordan, and he knows what we’re trying to do. And frankly, he’s like kind of the kind of the prototypical guy that we want in one of those spots, because he plays hard, he crashes the offensive glass. “He has a toughness about him. He has a team-first attitude, you know, I just think it speaks volumes to the type of person that he is, that he was prepared, and is willing to go to battle with these guys. “There was a play in the first half. It was one on four on our offensive end, and he tipped out, created an offensive rebound. We got another, shot that it was one on three, he ended up getting the basketball and scored. “Then he’s ripping his mask off and throwing it on the sideline twice. He’s a banshee, he’s a banshee, that’s why we like him.” With the Lakers unit under construction following the surprise Luka Doncic trade, Goodwin has emerged as nice surprise at just the right time. You have a good argument for #1 though I ain't having it. But let's not pretend his son is special. Crewsorlose 1 Quote

Yeah Bronny isn't a Mark/Marty Howe where they're actually elite and deserve multi season contracts. They just brought him so LeBron could play with him which is so fuoking dumb. ACE Posted February 12 Posted February 12 Bronny James is actually doing quite well in the G League, especially for a 20 year old. I know it doesn't fit the narrative, but the 2nd round pick was not as outrageous as it's often made out to be. thetorch and Crewsorlose 2 Quote

He's been having success in the g league getting his feet back under him. His son won't ever be that superstar most likely but you can see the little twitches and game knowledge of his pops. Coach314 Posted February 13 Posted February 13 Time will tell with Bronny. But...tho he's playing well there have been G League MVPs that don't make it to the NBA. And Bronny's USC teammate (Isaiah Collier) is also 20 and now the starting point guard for the Utah Jazz. Everyone knew Bronny would end up on the Lakers, it just seems like they manufactured hype around his name leading up to the draft. They said he was only working out for the Suns and Lakers. At the time Phx only had a 1st rd pick. The GM just so happens to be a former teammate of Lebron. Then on day 2 of the draft, Clutch Mgt started saying they were telling teams NOT to draft Bronny so he could "fall" to the Lakers. I wish him luck. He's getting better but he's a 6'2 combo guard and a streaky shooter. Quote

This kid's problem is not that he is not a good player, it is that his father is one of the all-time greats. Whenever that happens, people expect their kids to be the same and they never are. It's not their fault. If he can do well enough that he sticks in the league for 3 to 5 seasons, he will have accomplished about as much as can be "reasonably" expected of him. billiken_roy 1 Quote
