Pistol
The official roster has been updated. Returning: Warren, Martinez, Gul, Bess, Kennedy, Lazar, Flowers Incoming Transfers: McMakin, Calhoun, Tillett, Johns Freshmen: Liber, Connor, Nicastro That's 14 scholarship players, and I think Flowers is the only one who doesn't count against the total so I'm guessing the scholarship roster is set (someone correct me if I'm wrong). Unless I missed it, I don't think the Bri Johns transfer was ever announced. She's another one from Longwood, listed as a 5-11 G/F. Started out at SEMO but had 5 brief appearances that season, all late in the year. Averaged 18.1 MPG, 4.5 PPG, and 3.3 RPG this past season at Longwood and started 24 of 34 games. She's listed as a junior on the roster so maybe she didn't qualify for a redshirt at SEMO - just didn't play as opposed to being hurt, I guess. Anyway, I think this team can be fairly competitive in the A10 this season. Harbison is obviously a big loss but McMakin takes over that role. McNeal is really the only other significant loss from last season's roster, given that the rest of the departures were hurt or didn't play large roles. Assuming they stay relatively healthy, it's automatically a deeper team. BrettJollyComedyHour likes this

Lord Elrond
Assuming they stay relatively healthy….. The number of injuries last year was beyond belief. There were games with an available bench of 1 or 2. The injury situation this year almost has to be better, it’s hard to see how it can get worse. A key this year will be the ability to shoot 3 pointers. We ended up 331st in three point percentage (out of 348 total teams in division 1). Either that improves, or we are not competitive in the A10.
Lord Elrond
Looks like a new addition just announced, Camree Clegg, graduate transfer from St Johns. Looks like she is now the best 3 point shooter on the team

Pistol
She played at Clemson in 2018-2019, sat the next year as a transfer, and then was a rotation player at St. John's the past two seasons. 20.8 MPG, 6.4 PPG, 1.8 RPG, 3.3 APG (led the team), 0.6 SPG, 2.3 TPG. Slashline was .432/.385/.857. Started 21 of 31 games. Put up stronger numbers in Big East play than in the non-conference, partly due to big games against Georgetown early in the year and Providence near the end of the season. "Clegg will pursue a second master's degree with the Billikens." Already has a sports management degree and an MBA in finance. She seems to be a really nice piece for this team, which as @Lord Elrond pointed out, has been a bad shooting team. Bess was boom or bust as the 3-point specialist last season. This certainly takes some pressure off of her, and McMakin isn't afraid to shoot from anywhere.

Actually, unless it has been changed in the last year or so, the Women have 15 scholarships available each year. Pistol likes this

Pistol
SLU is clearly the 8-seed in the event. There's a consolation bracket with 7th and 5th-place games, so everyone plays 3. 5 of the 7 other teams made the NCAA Tournament last season. Only Georgia Tech lost in the first round. Michigan actually beat Villanova to make the Sweet Sixteen. All 7 of the other teams had winning records last season. Even South Florida and Air Force - the non-NCAAT teams - were pretty good. A win in the 7th-place game would be a positive outcome. Tillett sure seems fearless.

thetorch
I went back through SLU women's schedules. We have never been in an event even remotely close to this in program history. We've only played a handful of ranked teams before. Pretty ballsy move to schedule this. This is Tillett dragging this program kicking and screaming into the big time. We either compete with these teams, which would be great, or we get stomped to hell and back (more likely) and it signals to the brass that a higher commitment must be made. I hope that they actually acknowledge that if/when it happens lol. If nothing else this rockets our S.o.S wayyyy up for the season. Kind of like when we played UConn and actually held our ground and didn't get totally embarrassed.
