We can go up a lot, but a lot is due to how far out we are, maybe as high at 40 spots, but that doesn’t put us in the at large picture.

again, winning is one thing, winning by a lot is what we have to do so climb more, faster.

To expand on your post a bit... beating the spreads.

As for the game most important going forward, i.e. the single game that has the most potential to advance us up the rankings,  is  @ Dayton on Feb 10th.   That game has enough oomph to cancel out the SIU-e  damage.

Mizzou taking it to Kentucky.  Somehow Missouri’s best defense is leaving the other team wide open for threes… ILL and Kentucky combined have to be like 7%.

wish we could get some of that luck.

"Luck" is created... it is not just handed out. There is a reason that some no name off the bench has a career high night against us game in and game out.

A question: What is next for this season's Billikens team? What options does team have to improve? Expectations are now (greatly) reduced after the SIUE loss and absence of any sign of a miracle rebound to near-perfect conference record. Billikens are now looking like a .500 team in conference play - or maybe one or two games better. The team proved to have too many gaps, whether talent or coaching related, to be top 25 team, so it's a new season and the objective is to look for enough improvement to gain a top 4 seed in conference. So, which players or what approach can lead resurgence in defense now that Fred is out, or at least fill the gaps? Who can be secondary playmakers on offense to relieve pressure on Collins? It was a good first step to play Parker and Hughes more. What other changes might make an impact?

I would bench any player that is not performing up to expectations.  Give them a chance but if they don't respond take the only thing away that matters to players - time on the court.  Ford is the Sherriff and when you are you sometimes have to pull your gun.

Hughes and Parker are the biggest key taking mins. from Jimerson. We need dependable players and Jimerson has maxed out his gimmicky shot and limited athleticism. My guess is Hughes will be a 40-42% shooter from the arc with that terrific stroke so let’s let him launch them. Also, Parker seems to have a decent mid-range game and can get to the glass. Give him some chances to show off his athleticism.

Forrester has to see more minutes as he is a much more dependable scorer than Franco so the mpg mix there needs to favor Jake something like 22-18 to 25-15. Haven’t looked at the stats but I’m guessing he turns it over less as well.

Play more zone, preferably a 1-2-2, with Hughes or TJ up top. We need some size and athleticism there to harrass the ball handler and give some height to shoot over. We clearly don’t have the size and quickness to defend with man so mix in a few different zones.

Post up Perk some. He’s inconsistent with taking his man off the bounce so get him the ball with his back to the basket and let him create something.

Stop committing ridiculous fouls in the post. Our bigs can’t stop reaching in or putting 2 hands on the man they’re guarding. Defend with the body first and save the arms for when the shot is released.

How many frickin times did our bigs jump while defending smaller players on a pump fake and completely destroy our defense against UMass?  It seemed like we jumped on everything and either fouled or allowed a shot because we were way out of position.  IT MADE ME CRAZY!

I don’t think the people that want to take Okoro’s minutes and give them to Forrester really understand how much worse our defense is without Okoro on the court.  It goes from awful to really really awful.

Without Shaft is goes from really really awful to completely nonexistent.

Would rather Kansas keep the status quo in the Midwest than another program elevate. Kansas we'll snag a big St. Louis HS player, KState is actively recruiting STL.

Over the last 98 games in the series, Kansas has won 85 of them. Let the underdog enjoy a day in the sun.

Watched the end of that game.  Got me wondering about Bradford and Kasubke.  Did not know both had transferred.  Bradford to Wake and Kasubke to Illinois State.  Neither doing much although Kasubke has better averages.

He's been amazing for them defensively.

New coach, only 2 players on roster from last season.  Yet another example of a new coach building a winner immediately using the transfer portal.  Oh, and not a single player from St. Louis, or even Missouri, on the roster.  Not sure this guy will be recruiting St. Louis very hard.  The coach, Jerome Tang, is from Texas via the US Virgin Islands and was last on Scott Drew's staff.
