Memphis Blues Again

Recommended Posts

Sorry to see this but not a surprise because I thought the Memphis program seemed a little sketchy.

I am a Hardaway fan even though he beat us with a few seconds to go in a game where he received a long pass and laid it in.

I was hoping the Memphis program would stay solid as a top 50 program SLU could play more in the future.

This stuff is absolutely rife in college basketball. NIL, "champions center" .. this crap. "Cardinal rules" .. let's knock it off and just pay them. The desire to win is too much. If fans don't like pro sports, they'll stop going and the money will wind down.

This is becoming an issue larger than just collegiate sports by doing it this way.

What does "probation" mean in this case? Is it just "don't do it again for three years or we'll be REALLY mad"? Or are there actual implications for recruiting, scholarships, hiring, post-season play, etc.... during the three year period?

It means if you do it again we will slap the other wrist.

The next step is to be put on “Double-Secret” Probation….

Question - Who could ever have guessed that Memphis would ever be accused of violating NCAA guidelines?

Answer - Everyone

Right.  Wiseman left BBE to play on Penny's AAU team.  Then left his High School to go play for Penny.  Then followed Penny to Memphis.

When a coach has more scandals than NCAA appearances in his 1st 4 years, you absolutely have to lock him up long term.  Lol.

Joking aside - as long as Memphis is okay with the shadiness (which they obviously are & is becoming more acceptable / less likely to be punished in the NIL era), then Penny may be about as good as they can hope for in a head coach.
