GDT: A10 Semifinals vs Davidson

Give me this weekend to be disappointed and angry I can be rational about the season Monday.

Hey there will still be at least one more game for you to form an opinion.  The most fun I ever had as a Billiken fan was beating Judd Heathcote's ass in the semifinals of the NIT- it meant two more days exploring NYC.

I think if Dayton wins today that they are in.  Dayton feels like one of the teams the committee likes to invite.  High upside.

Agreed. And the committee can discount Dayton's first three horrifying losses (which I don't think KenPom or NET does) and focus on the Miami, Kansas, VaTech, Belmont, and Davidson wins.

And I hope TJ stays. But damn, Travis has to come up with a better O scheme than just I’ve got great athletes. We do. But when u watch Davidson play O like a well choreographed dance, it’s frustrating that we don’t.

The better O scheme is a traditional offense where both your point guard and leading scorer can both handle the ball.  Yurimania's obscenely high usage rate this year was a workaround.

I hate how fine I feel after today, I think it’s largely In part due to me not thinking we’d win anyway. I’ve said for a while now Davidson was the best team, Davidson is a lock- for a reason. Sucks to not win but it was going to take an upset to win.

on to the NIT and I’m excited basketball is not done yet, especially if  we get to go to the fetz one more time.

A10 is stacked next season

Was I smoking marijuana drugs earlier this week or did someone actually say they heard Caleb Love wanted to come home and play for SLU next season? If someone did indeed post that, were they on marijuana drugs?

It’s become some small inside joke

Dayton is done.  If you count some wins in December, you have to count those loses to Austin Peay, Lipscomb and Umass -Lowell.  Then they lost to LaSke and today’s complete collapse w/o Malachi Smith or a second PG.  M-E-A-T!

IMO this year’s team has the makeup of a team more likely to take advantage of an NIT invite than our squad last year. I loathe the NIT, but it makes sense to play as many games as possible since most guys will return next season.

It was created to throw smoke over the EJ Liddell to SLU transfer rumors, which are everywhere.

I heard Jabari Smith might be forgoing the draft to come here too. He was very impressed with the facilities when they visited

Lmao, are there actually rumors of that? Travis will have a huge off-season, mark my words, but no one could pull that off.

Who can blame him. It is rumored that the O’laughlin center will be providing round the clock bangers and mash, corned beef, and bottomless Guinness.

I think it is easy to say coach ford underachieved when in reality he lost the best player in the league with no time to adjust to the loss and still won 23 games. It took a good part of the season for okoro to shake off the rust and gj had to learn an entirely new role on the fly. There is no go to scorer on the team anywhere near like perkins and you had to rely heavily on a freshman who is still learning. I think a case could be made that ford overachieved with the players he has. Collins had to pick up some of the scoring something he has never had to do. Still made it to the semis and likely will get to the nit. i say congrats to coach

And everyone’s genius coach of our opponent today would have been reamed on this board a long time ago had he been the Bills Coach. I believe this will be his 8th trip to the tournament in 30+ years and only in 1 of those trips did he win a game and that was with Steph Curry.

Yeah, but it’s Davidson, a 1400 student school with a high school gym in a podunk town with one stoplight. Who’d want to go to school there much less play hoops?

Tough break but as we Bills fans know all too well, injuries are part of the game.  They're easily a preseason top 20 team going into next year.  When's the last time the A10 had two preseason top 25 teams?  Because next year is a distinct possibility.

Why “easily” ? 2nd or 3rd best team in a 1 bid league? Yea young, got it. That’s not enough to rightfully be a T25 team.

A10 shouldn’t be a one bid league next year. Us, Dayton, VCU, and Davidson bring most key contributors back and should only improve. I wouldn’t call Dayton a preseason T25 team (only Davidson is) but they have the potential to make it there at some point throughout the season. Smith and Holmes are the real deal

I agree, I’d say Dayton is preseason 40-50

Loyer and Brajkovic are out of here.  Davidson has no graduate program to keep them.  Dayton is the youngest team in the league and finished 2nd this year.  They're a lock for preseason top 20 next year.
