commentators are saying no team has suffered more adversity than SLU in the last year.

Its not even close.

I'd wager that no team has suffered more adversity than SLU in the last decade

Other posters mentioned the string of issues we've had to deal with but

Situations 1 & 2,

Majerus,

Covid year 1,

Covid year 2,

Ford Stuen,

JP's ACL,

hell even the Carteare Gordon situation applies - elite level player that turned out to be a giant bust.

I hate to throw a pity party but man we can't catch a break.

You missed a big one which is hiring Jim Crews

Lesser but still had an impact:

Fred Thatch mystery illness / medical issue taking him out

Gibson Jimerson broken foot

Luis Santos dismissal

Cody Ellis shoulder injury & mono

Kwam injury

Numerous instances of guys playing banged up (Bess, Jett, etc.)

Anyone else check out the replies under Jon Rothsteins tweet about Perkins?  It was impressive how many people across college hoops(not just STL, or A10) stopped in to comment in support.

I’m sure the whole team and staff is still suffering shell shock from JP’s injury. This will really test Travis and Staff’s ability to rally the troops. In Travis I trust. Thatch made an interesting comment on Roby. He indicated it was great having him around to help them get through this. God knows, Roby definitely learned how to get through the tough times while playing under Crews.
It’s time for the “did we give up when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!” speech.

I thought it was interesting that Coach said we may have to play faster now.

I fuoking loved it.

We're going to have a residency spot in the SportsCenter Top 10 if we're pushing the tempo with Yuri at the point and guys like Okoro, Nesbitt, Hargrove, Strickland, and Thatch running the floor.

Didn't Yuri play a stretch with a (~)broken thumb, too? I think the Fred Thatch one is the craziest and I maintain that I'm most disappointed in the 2019-2020 season ending of all of them.

Hell I'd even add the A10 losing Butler, Temple, Xavier in that mix where we struggled to maintain a national reputation because the conference went through a rebuilding period which affected everything from national rankings to recruiting and maybe TV deals??

Holy shite it only gets worse the more you think about it.

The Kurt Warner comparison is very similar.

Trent Green was signed to be the Rams QB, went down in preseason, season ending lower appendage injury.  All seemed to be lost.

The story is then Rams owner Georgia Frontiere, having dinner with team President John Shaw, said maybe the Warner kid would turn out to be the next Unitas.

In the "word" of the late Joaquin Andujar, "youneverknow."

Welp, time for players and coaches to step up.  We had a bunch of unknowns going into 2019 and over achieved by most measures.  That was the same year that Perkins couldn’t even find the floor at the beginning of the season, so maybe Nesbit will have the same, but higher, trajectory.
