Lord Elrond Posted January 15 Posted January 15 Did they ever unblock Billikens.com on the campus network? Did they also block it on the free guest WiFi that they provide in some areas (like Chaifetz)? Quote

Lord Elrond Posted January 16 Posted January 16 Interesting. I was connecting to the internet on 5g at Chaifetz, used this site no problem, then I logged off to do other stuff. I connected to Chaifetz Public WiFi, got on other sites no problem, but when I went back to Billikens.com, I got a “Server not found” error. I shut off the WiFi, and on 5g I had no problem getting on Billikens.com. Just reporting the facts. As to why, SluSignGuy 1 Quote

If anyone else is at the Women’s game tonight, please try to repeat my experiment. Maybe it comes and goes? Quote
SluSignGuy Posted January 16 Posted January 16 I worked from home today, so I wasn't able to try. However, a colleague yesterday had the same problem as I did. @Lord Elrond further reaffirms. This will be an interesting support ticket to SLU IT. Quote
SluSignGuy Posted January 16 Posted January 16 It's very unlikely my server. Just submitted a ticket to SLU IT. Adding to story of the Sign Kid working at SLU... Quote

When a prior employer was locking down our computer networks, Billikens.com and youtube and even realtor.com, which we used a ton, were blocked. Had to petition the security boffins to get access back. Eventually got Billikens.com back too.... Quote
Lord Elrond Posted January 19 Posted January 19 FYI, same test, same results. While logged in to Chaifetz Public WiFi network, Billikens.com not accessible, would not connect. Log off and use 5G, no problem connecting to Billikens.com. I get higher speeds on 5G, 114.5 Mbps vs 74.7 on Chaifetz Public WiFi anyway. I am curious to see why this is happening. My current top guess is a porn blocker on the SLU network. Quote
SluSignGuy Posted January 19 Posted January 19 If anyone knows what this means (sent to me by SLU IT), all ears. Quote Hi Steven, We can see the website Billikens.com is getting blocked by Deny FBI_FQDN_List_OUT. below the snap for your refence. Quote
Lord Elrond Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Zoom in on the reply and under Session End Reason it says policy-deny? Are we really sure the firewall has not been programmed to deny access to Billikens.com? And I sure hope the FBI stands for Firewall Basic Instructions. If not, the later part when it mentions a List-Out becomes more than a little alarming. CenHudDude 1 Quote

I have the same problem Torch had long ago. If I go to Billikens.com I get an opening page but I’m unable to navigate to the message board or see the schedule or anything else. I can log straight into the message board and participate in the discussion that way. @kcbill What browser and type of computer are you using? Quote
SluSignGuy Posted April 7 Posted April 7 I got bored and saw an Oil Rig animation on my social media feed, so I made an animated GIF for the board. Can be found if you click the emoji icon then select the category Billiken GIFs Quote
White Pelican Posted April 8 Posted April 8 Gah, I can't look at that! It's making me seasick!! It'll be fun to use though. Quote
Old guy Posted April 8 Posted April 8 Nice clip, I would say it is a jack up rig and considering the size of the waves, I would say it is located in the North Sea. How did I do? Quote
SluSignGuy Posted Tuesday at 05:01 AM Posted Tuesday at 05:01 AM As a warning to users, I hope to move Billikens.com to a new server on April 16 or April 17. My aim is to minimize downtime, but there could be a gap in which some message board posts may be lost on these dates (e.g., the post is made after the migration starts but before it is completed). Crossing fingers all goes smoothly. Quote
Old guy Posted Tuesday at 05:11 AM Posted Tuesday at 05:11 AM Good luck Steve, I remember when my company installed "upgrades" and the next working day the systems were really slow and some of the functions would do weird things. Quote
