I added some notes to this because I was interested in whether the A10 has become a farm league for P6 conferences due to transfer rules from this year. A couple caveats/explanations:

- In the interest of time and objectivity, I didn't differentiate between good/bad teams. Only conferences. Boston College still counted as P6, for example, even though their bball program isn't great.

- Anyone listed as "TBA" I counted as going to non-P6.

- I didn't differentiate between high major, low major, etc. Too ambiguous.

- Green = in from P6, red= out to P6. Blue= in from non-P6, yellow = out to non-P6. Purple = D2.

- I almost certainly made some mistakes doing this.

- I realize this might change for future years. This is only from this year, obviously.

Dayton's Lukas Frazier move to Ohio is a non-P6 transfer, not a P6 transfer.

La Salle's David Beatty's move to NC A&T is a non-P6 transfer, not a P6 transfer.

If Memphis counts as "Power 6," then isn't it really 7?

Pac-12, Big 12, SEC, ACC, Big Ten, Big East, American?

Yeah like I said I almost certainly made some mistakes. Honestly I'm surprised people didn't catch more. Lol

Fixed original post.

So what's your criteria for determining whether we a farm league for the P6?

By my count the A-10 only really lost 6 guys to larger schools (Chatman, Weathers, Battle, Fatts, Degray, Mitchell). Guys from Fordham and Mason don't really count given coaching change. Grady couldn't have returned so he doesn't really count as well. Weathers, Chatman and Fatts were also all seniors last season so you could make the case that they don't really count either since their circumstances are unique to this year.

The A-10 has a long history of bringing in successful transfers, both up-transfers and down-transfers. I expect this to continue as long as schools in our conference bring in good coaches and invest in basketball budgets.

Ha...I was hoping to just present the data and leave it up to everyone else to get into a debate about what it means. But since you asked, here goes:

If we were a farm league, I would expect to see a net of more transfers moving "up" to the P6 vs. lateral or downward moves. I don't see that in this data set.

It's just one piece of information though. It doesn't take into account the % of guys who have P6 interest who moved up. Like, if every single dude good enough to play for KU or wherever moves on, that would be an indicator that we're something of a farm league. Example- an actual farm league: AAA baseball- every single guy who is good enough will obviously go to the majors if given a chance. In that case it doesn't matter the numbers going each way if one league is obviously the goal and the other is a stepping stone to get there.

Based on those criteria I would say no, not a farm league for the following reasons:

1. There's not an obvious exodus of top guys from A10 to P6.

2. There's not an obvious preference toward moving to P6. There are definitely guys sticking around who would easily be able to move, e.g., Perkins and others.

I would also say A10 is making out pretty well on both ends; 20 dudes transferring in from P6 and 20 from non-P6. I'm surprised it's so balanced.

Davidson is a liberal arts school.  They don't have any graduate courses for Grady to take. His teammate Bates Jones had to move on for the same reason.

Interesting. I did not know that about Davidson. I could be wrong, but I believe Grady or Jones could have stayed at Davidson by pursuing another major if they wanted to do so.

My understanding is that Davidson cannot accept grad transfers, and for that same reason none of their players were able to return for a 5th season. Even if technically allowed by the NCAA, that still could just be team/school policy. All of the Ivy League schools are the same way.

How did I not know this?

This has put them at a huge disadvantage with the advent of the grad transfer rule.

Not a transfer but interesting. No need to start a new thread

Fordham just landed Abdou Tsimbila from Penn State, so there's a transfer. Didn't play much at Penn State but it's clear Fordham is making moves under Kyle Neptune. Riley is supposedly a player. Tsimbila is depth with Big Ten experience, if nothing else.

Could be a wild card for the Dukes.  At 6'7", he will help fill a void in the frontcourt.  For the star gazers, ESPN rated him a 4* out of HS.  On Verbal Commits, he is listed at 3.3*.

In his freshman season in Chattanooga, Easley averaged 14.2 points per game as well as 6.7 rebounds per game, earning Southern Conference Freshman of the Year honors. He shot 44.4% from the field and 39.7 from three-point land.

Sat a year then at TCU he played in 26 games, starting 13. Easley averaged 4.5 points and 3.7 rebounds on the year, and had three games with more than ten points.
