Transfers are a big part of recruiting now.  I'm noticing traction of a "stay old" philosophy using the portal.  You recruit sparingly amongst HS and fill needs with experienced transfers.  This is in contrast to a previous way to "stay old" using red-shirts and players waiting their turn to start.

Also (knock on wood) SLU has done better getting players that transfer eligible to play.  In the 90s and 2000s it was always such a crap shoot.  Now it is assumed.

It's a seller's market for decent power forwards.  Everybody's looking for one and there aren't many to go around.  Frankly, we have a better chance of landing a college-ready PF in the 2022 high school class.

Landed Francis Okoro in the transfer market.  Landed Linnson.  No reason at all, that SLU can't lure a PF.  Oh, and that combo guard.  The question, who is SLU pursuing currently besides Madsen for the two open slots?

We got Okoro because he is a fomer Beagle.  And we already have Linssen.  In order to break into the rotation, a PF would have to be better than Linssen.

Also, neither Okoro or Linssen are suited to play next to each other (or another big like Bell or French).

SLU has had two players in recent memory who are big enough and skilled enough to play as a “power forward” in modern basketball: Cody Ellis and Carteare Gordon. These types of players are so difficult to come by. That’s why I think it’s a real stretch that we could find one in the portal. It’s a safer pick to have Perkins play there or hope Lorentsson grows into that role.

I like Linssen's game and I think his smart movement without the ball and screens can compliment a more perimeter focused team.  So maybe HS is the place to look for a PF to develop behind our current crop.  In a pinch we have big enough Guards and Wings to go with 4 G/Wing line up.

You can be accurately graded in high school but a bad college fit will make you look like a much worse player.  There's a reason that Isabel looked like a bum at Mizzou and a superstar at Drexel.  He's a ball dominant player and anything else wasn't going to work.

Watson is a volume scorer who was relegated to spot up shooter duties at Mizzou.  Bad fit.

bottom line anyone that decides to spend time at mi$$ouri is a tool.   no other explanation needed.   even if they decide it was a mistake and then transferred out, imo they would still be a tool.

If they end up at SLU and lead us to the NCAAs.... no longer a tool

Relegated makes it sound like that was a coaching staff decision, his complete lack of ball skills is why he was relegated to being a stand still shooter. I know folks who watched him in high school had some concerns with how his game would translate to the high major level (apparently scored a lot of his points at the rim playing as more of a 6'4 bully at the Class 3 level) and those concerns played out. He is so inept with the ball that his only role at the high major level was to become a lights out 3 point shooter. He just can't be a volume scorer at that level.
