With St. Bonnie slipping into the GW game slot, we are only picking up a net of one of the postponed games next week.  We still have 8 left out there to reschedule or cancel, plus the St. Bonnie floater.  It will be a stretch for SLU to get more than 12 conference games played.

East Coast snow storms are pretty unpredictable since sometimes the humidity comes from the sea and is frozen into snow by the cold air coming in from the West. I am not saying this is what this particular storm will be, and Philly is not in the coast per se, but in such cases the amount of precipitation and length of the storm are extremely hard to predict. Again, the weather men do not, never do, have 100% accuracy. Another factor is that the Philly airport has a pretty short runway which makes landing dicey in snow storms and the plane may be detoured to land in Newark or some other relatively nearby airport with better runways (but long bus rides). The only redeeming factor here, this being Philly, is that they  have the equipment needed to keep things moving in the roads and the airport.

If the team is chartering they should have plenty of options at private FBO's nearer Philly...

-so it is 2 hour flying time and lose an hour with the time zone change, in this Covid era would leaving Wednesday morning impact the team's performance? perhaps a safer time to travel

My senior year, we had a road game at Carbondale. Soderberg was dead set on traveling both ways the day of the game - doing almost all of our preparation at home, then taking the 2-hour bus ride straight to their arena, then coming home right after. We entered that game 2-7, having lost mostly close ones (we ended up 1-12 in close games that season, showing you how fine the line is between a .500 season and one of the worst seasons ever). We were coming off a win at Oakland and a frustrating grinder of a loss at home to Dayton. Coach thought we had a chance to get over the hill before CUSA play started and we could put together a respectable conference season.

The bus driver got pulled over for running a red light right as we were approaching Carbondale, which set us back like 20 minutes (Sodie was fuming). The pregame shootaround was a little flat and the locker room was quiet before the game. We got absolutely embarrassed from almost the opening tip. Halftime was the ugliest I'd ever seen in four years. It ended up 67-41, SIUC. It was an unmitigated disaster.

Instead of turning things around, we lost the next game to SEMO and it wasn't close. We spent NYE losing a relatively competitive game at Iowa and finished the non-conference slate with a record of 2-10. The SIUC game still feels like the bottom of a horrible season all these years later.

This is a long way of saying: Don't travel to your destination on gameday if you can avoid it.

There's just something taxing about traveling before a game and not getting your bearings set, not to mention any unexpected incidents that can blow up the day's schedule. Traveling home right after is fine. I know COVID is forcing all kinds of compromises, too. But man, you want to wake up in a hotel the day of a road game.

We are currently getting hammered here on the East Coast.  As far as I can tell, the biggest totals are piling up about 100 or so miles NW of Philly.  Sleet and freezing rain change line is nearing Philly now but that’s still problematic.  Snow should end for the state tomorrow morning.  A cancellation would not surprise me.  A season of horrors.

That's why it rained here all day on Saturday instead of snowed.
