yamarama Posted July 22 Posted July 22 Yeah don't we do the same thing to basketball recruits? What's the difference? You’re trolling we get it. it’s always the same few people. But I will play along. The difference is how many people are in the photo. Most photos have 1 person in them or the person or people in the phot are clearly identifiable. On June 20th for example, courtside posted in the Men’s Soccer thread a StL Academy team photo with several SLU commits. He also identified which player was where in the photo. This is a good way to lose good posters who provide info that you can’t get anywhere else about several SLU sports teams and other things related to SLU. Ask some of the many private message and booster travel people. Many used to post here. Others never have and are less likely to do so. We don’t care though because he’s always good enough to give us the info whether he also posts it here or not. It’s not that hard to keep the info train going. But, there are basic minimums of being decent to people. Big soccer commitment today indirectly related to SLU too. slufanskip 1 Quote

As a long time member of this community, I can tell you it is as only as good as its members and posters. When you actively refuse to post and then criticize people who do you are actually part of the problem. Communication changes minds and alters opinions, silence does not. If you don't like the tone and content of the board then offer something to change it, don't just whine. Quote

thetorch Posted July 23 Posted July 23 An obsession with a poster Skip. You are a longtime poster, you've seen a lot of people come and go. You are defending a poster who - Accused other posters of "plagiarism" - Tries to make up a separate set of rules pertaining to how to respond to his posts - Creates posts that are cut and pasted from other websites by other writers (poster may or may not have contributed to the post on the other website) and passes them off as his own writing. - Talks down to nearly everyone - Puts little "clickbait" messages in his posts, like there is some sort of paywall we need to get access to info - creates burner accounts to like his posts and defend his posts - constantly creates off topic posts that are long and drawn out - harasses other posters in private messages I've never seen anyone conduct themselves on this board like this. When you act like this, expect to get ridiculed. This board is for discussion. Courtside wants it be his own personal blog. Imagine if Courtside wasn't a "Soccer Expert" and instead was just a regular MBM. Would his posting style and conduct be tolerated on the board? Absolutely not. brianstl, billikenbill, slufan13 and 4 others 7 Quote

RollBills82 Posted July 23 Posted July 23 Looks like courtside has really good info that’s shared. Isn’t that the point of the board? I have no idea of the history or other drama on here so take that into consideration but the post about the girl going to nationals was good info that wouldn’t have known. Quote

Posting good information on the board does not excuse certain behavior. That behavior has been outlined above by torch. Quote
slufan13 Posted July 23 Posted July 23 It's more about certain posters setting their own rules and are allowed to do whatever they want including make false accusations against other poster's personal integrity. And then they use burner accounts to defend themselves when called out. As far as the difference between womens soccer and mens basketball recruiting pictures, I have not seen any pictures on here of people specifically telling us which players is which. That and the whole thing of posting numerous pictures on a message board of underage girls. But that's just me. It's just so weird this board still hasn't changed. Quote

cgeldmacher Posted July 23 Posted July 23 Pointing out which basketball recruit we should be looking at in a video of an AAU game is very different that pointing out a which girl in a team photo is the one we are recruiting or have signed. Using the team photo gives the sense that the girl's appearance should be important to us. It gives us no information about that girl's skills or why we recruited her. Quote
yamarama Posted July 23 Posted July 23 Courtside can be arrogant but he is one of the few people on here who gives real information. Keep on posting Court. He has the relationships with coaches, players, staff. SLU admin, families, travel boosters, and other people nationally. The way to obtain information, is by spending time with people who produce information. He’s even still friendly over the years with recruiting targets families that didn't even choose SLU. And as Skip or others that talk with him more frequently away from here will tell you, he isn’t arrogant at all. He voluntarily shares information that he doesn’t have to share, with nothing to self promote, and he leaves. He isn’t here to hang out. He doesn’t read most of the threads. Seems like a win/win for readers. And, what he shares is a small percentage of what he knows. Mutual respect is why he keeps getting the information. But some people are here for other reasons. It isn’t difficult to keep the information going but there is a minimum amount of decency required. Away from here much of the discussion is about Men’s basketball as you’d might expect. He mostly stopped posting about Men’s basketball long ago with rare exceptions. It’s more Olympic Sports and other things now. We’ll take it. And this is a good way to end that too. And with a recent death in his family, you may want to hope he doesn’t leave altogether soon if still want that information. Tonka, Billikenbooster, HoosierPal and 1 other 4 Quote

We are used to seeing athletes with professionally done photos tell the world that they are being recruited by multiple universities. Having a hard time seeing how posting a team photo crosses any kind of line here. It doesn’t. And they know that. They’re trolling and gaslighting because they are jealous he has the contacts, and, he gets the informatiom. For some reason that really bothers them. I believe slufanskip used the term obsessed. Most people are happy to consume the information, and, engage the topics. Seems simple enough. Gaslighting is a way to distract people temporarily from that information and topic. On June 20th of this year in the Men’s Soccer thread, he described SLU Men’s soccer players in the same way pointing out where they were in the photo amongst other non SLU commits. As far as how that player fits into SLU, he posted that on August 30th of last year in this same thread. Both are attached. HoosierPal, Tonka and blue bodega 3 Quote
