2021 SLU soccer commit Emily Gaebe (Union) will play Wednesday WWT Soccer Park Missouri Class 3 State Semifinals after scoring two goals helping her Union team advance. She now has at least 40 goals in all three of her high school seasons. And she has helped lead her team to the State Semifinals all three seasons.

She’ll get to go head to head with 2023 Brooke Cattoor. (A good Fort Zumwalt South team) Cattoor was named Golden Ball winner a couple of years ago in the USYS 14’s, as the best player in her age group. Her LFA team lost 2-1 in the National Title game. She has since switched club teams to SLSG. Cattoor broke the single season scoring record for Zumwalt South this season. 2021 Sophia Cross (Miami Ohio) also a nice player.

Also of note, SLU midfielder Jess Preusser’s little sister Nina, (2023) continues to have a strong Spring season. Had another strong game yesterday in the State Quarterfinals at both attacking midfield and up top. Her 25 yard free kick banged off of the far post and cross bar eventually to Mackenzie Duff. Duff with back to goal turned and perfectly placed left foot to far left post for the game winner. (People are seeing why Clemson recruited Duff. She dominates games with things not on the stat sheets, while also adding multiple game winning playoff goals out of the defensive midfield)Their Nerinx Hall team will play in the State Semis at WWT Soccer Park. 2024 Lauren Seppi would be a good player to watch on their team. She plays up top and attacking mid for her high school team. But she plays center back and wing back for her club team. (SLSG) She will be a higher profile recruit ok the back line for college. They will play KC St. Theresa’s led by Marquette recruit Kate Gibson.

The other semifinal 4pm Friday includes St. Dominic led by several high level recruits. 2022 Grace Bindbeutel (Oklahoma St) 2021 Ashley Martinez (Wisconsin) 2022 Jessica Larson (Mizzou), 2021 Rylie Combs (Mississippi St.)

2023 SLU recruiting target Ashley Koch lost in the Kansas 6A State Championship game 2-1. She plays for Shawnee Mission East and Sporting Blue Valley Club. Had a great season. Interestingly enough Mizzou’s new coach was recruiting her at Minnesota, and now is doing so at Mizzou. She would be a great get tor SLU. There is plenty of competition but SLU is in the mix.

These are great updates. Thanks. Who is in the mix recruiting Brooke Cattoor? Assume she is a high level D1 recruit.

Cattoor’s recruitment is open as she is still a Sophomore. She is a higher level recruit, yes.

Also, a few of the higher recruited players don’t play high school soccer, only club. (Teater (UNC) Brown (South Carolina) etc...) But many to most do locally. Club allows to see many players at once. But there is still fun and pride playing with your high school friends and teammates.

Gaebe is one of SLU’s recruits for next year. It’s a chance to see her play outside of her club, in a higher profile situation. Her opponent’s team is the top ranked large school area team. So it’ll be a big ask for her and her team.

It’s also an opportunity to see some of the better players in the 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 classes. Some of these in 2022 are already college committed. Some are not. Most 2023 and 2024 are not.

2021 Raena Childers (Grain Valley, KC Athletics, is a KU commit) vs Anna Pagano (2023, Notre Dame, LFA) in the other semifinals Class 3.

The next day is the Class 4 Semifinals.

2021 Sydney Smith is headed to Illinois St. Plays right wingback for Nerinx. Solid defender. 2022 Mississippi St. commit Delaney Ahearn is their center back. 2021 Clemson commit Mackenzie Duff is their defensive midfielder. Nina Preusser is a 2023 attacking midfielder. Lauren Seppi is a 2024 forward/attacking midfielder. But she is a defender for her club team. (Kate Gibson is a nice player from Kansas City)

In the other Class 4 Semifinal, some players to watch include 2021 Ashley Martinez (Wisconsin), 2022 Grace Bindbeutel (Oklahoma St.), 2021 Rylie Combs (Mississippi St.), 2024 Kaleigh McPherson,  2022 Jessica Larson (Mizzou) Larson is injured.

We also have talked about injuries and unfortunately that can be a part of Women’s soccer. Maci Teater, who does ‘t pkay high school soccer, and who is a UNC commit, had an acl tear this year. Jess Larson, a Mizzou commit, has also had an injury this season. Both are higher level recruits.

Lee’s Summit West has several good players.

Missouri Class 3 Semifinal:

Strong showing from incoming SLU recruit Emily Gaebe, but her Union team falls short 2-1 on a Zumwalt South goal with 1:45 remaining, after equalizing the game at 1-1 in the 55th minute.

Gaebe opened the scoring in the 30th minute off of a corner from teammate Emma Cloud. Gaebe had several other chances and near misses. Credit Zumwalt South keeper Sarah Bozeman for keeping South in the game. Both teams have high powered offenses, and, they were on display. Audrey Smith and Isabel Montileone combined for both Zumwalt South goals.

Gaebe now has 155 goals and 3 Final Fours in 3 high school seasons.

2024 Audrey Smith 3 goals and an assist. 7 goals and 7 assists in post season. Kansas commit Raena Childers had both goals for Grain Valley.

Union won 3rd place 1-0 over Notre Dame.

Kudos for the goal but that's got to be one of the worst defended corners I've ever seen

In Missouri Class 4 Semifinals:

St. Dominic 5 Lee’s Summit West 2

Quick 3 goal lead for St. Dominic at the half. Lee’s Summit West pressured for 2-3. Then St. Dominic added the cushion to regain the comfortable win.  Lots of depth and firepower for St. Dominic.  Gabby Hennessy (Rockhurst) had two goals. Grace Bindbeutel (Oklahoma St.) had a goal and couple of assists.

Nerinx Hall 3 St. Theresa’s 1

St. Theresa’s scored first on a nice through ball from Saige Wimes to 2021 Marquette commit Kate Gibson, who made no mistake blasting to lower left corner. (58 goals for Gibson.)

Lauren Seppi scored the equalizer early in the 2nd half. Then Nerinx found their stride. Game winner came when a 25 yard free kick from Nina Preusser bangs off of the cross bar. St. Theresa’s had 2-3 players marking six foot Mackenzie Duff for the rebound, leaving Ava Blum alone to run up for the tap in beating defenders.

Nerinx Hall vs St. Dominic for the Class 4 Title.

All four State Titles will come from St. Louis Area teams. John Burroughs won Class 1. Fort Zumwalt South won Class 3. Ursuline plays.

Class 4 State Championship:

St. Dominic 3 Nerinx Hall 1.

Another big crowd. Nerinx pressured often early and took a 1-0 lead. Lauren Seppi corner:

St. Dominic answered with two goals and mid way through the first half it was already 2-1. 2nd half Mackenize Duff was stopped on a PK which was a must have for Nerinx Hall.

St. Dominic went up 3-1 on this play from Grace Bindbeutel to Camryn Collier in the 66th minute:

Great atmosphere and good game, competitive game.

From a recruiting standpoint you can see why 2022 Grace Bindbeutel is a past Missouri Gatorade Player of the Year and an Oklahoma St. commit. Creates a lot of opportunities on the attack. And 2021 Ashley Martinez (Wisconsin) and 2021 Rylie Combs (Mississippi St. shut down offenses) Mackenzie Duff, a 6 foot strong, athletic, defensive midfielder that covers the entire field. (Clemson)

Jessica Larson of course would be the 4th Power 5 recruit for St. Dominic on their team. She has been out with injury and is still committed to Mizzou despite the coaching change. Duff was Nerinx Hall’s Power 5 commit.

There was also a good ECNL showcase in North Carolina this weekend as well. Always be recruiting.

SLU has a new 2022 Soccer Commit.

Lauren Hiatt, MF/D out of Nashville. She is a part of the back to back Tennessee AAA State Champion Ravenwood team. And she plays ECNL club ball with Tennessee Soccer Club based in suburban Nashville.

Good technically on the ball in tight spaces, good length, good aerially, good work rate. Ball winner and distributor out of the back. She has been coming back from injury this past year.

Nice addition to the 2022 class. This comes after SLU had a successful ID camp on campus this weekend that had a nice turnout with some higher profile (targeted) younger recruits.

ECNL Nationals are coming up in two and half weeks in Florida. (Lakewood Ranch).

Also, St. Louis is hosting Academy League Girls and Boys USYS Regionals this year with teams from about 12-14 states participating. This begins in two weeks. State Cup was this past weekend.

Nice feature on SLU alum Maddie Pokorny and her journey to the UEFA Champions League this August. A week ago, her Danish team KB Koge won the Elitedivisionen. (Danish top division) in their first year of promotion from the 2nd Division.

SLU has added Dayton transfer Katie Houck. She started all 14 games for Dayton as a Freshman this past season.

Converted to center back at SLSG at the prep and club level. Originally committed early to Oklahoma until their coaching change her Senior year of high school. Switched to Dayton.

Excellent in the air both offensively and defensively. No nonsense cerebral player. Good body positioning physically, good spacing. Her dad is the long time boys and girls coach at Belleville West. She played at Freeburg.

She assisted on a couple of goals vs SLU this year. She was named to the A-10 all Rookie Team as a Freshman.

She is , in effect a P5 level recruit based on her OKL commitment.  I guess with injuries you can never have too many good young backs.  Looks like we will have superb depth next year, even if Larson needs to sit out.

Nice to have a coaches daughter in the program!

Have you heard about any departures?  Some of last years' reserves would seem to be likely candidates to move on.  Katie just seems to be continually improving the team.

-it seems a no-brainer to accept an All Rookie selection, even if from SVU, the competition for minutes should be intense, great job Coach Katie and Staff

I'm not judging her talent as I have never seen her play. However, I guess technically she's a P5 recruit but OU was 1-12-2. Dayton was probably the better team

8 new players. 8 departing players.

Elli Brunts, Megan Nixon, Annabelle Copeland were Seniors. Emma Christanell has transitioned to team a manager. She’s a former Region Defender of the Year, higher level recruit, locally in high school, SLSG, that has had injury challenges. She will stay on with team in a manager capacity.

Jenna Faybrick, Marissa Lesko, Kat Zaber, and Sydney Walker, are among the outgoing players.

No one in the top 12 of minutes played is leaving.  Brunts about 35 mpg #13. Copeland about 20 mpg #14. Nixon 10 games 17 minutes per. Faybrick averaged 22 pg but only played in 8 games.
