most of you know that typically at the christmas break, i like to sit in with the billiken band to help offset the loss of students that go home for the break.   so you know i am a band geek at heart.

today one of my earliest influences in music died.  David "Red" Lehr.  he literally was one of the greatest if not the greatest tuba players ever.    here is a u tube link to his masterpiece, his encore.    "Tiger Rag"  the man was incredible.   he could play a tuba like most trumpet players cant play a trumpet.

I am proud to say i knew Red.   i grew up and am still very close with his son so this is tough for me.   i have been searching utube for different performances for him for over two hours now and i have listened to this piece 4x tonight already.   even if you arent a musician, surely you can appreciate his talent.   6 minutes.   listen to honor this great musician.
